How did it go with answering your questions?? She is intimidating because she is the director. But I am sure you did fine. They understand that you are nervous and all so they take it into consideration. I go to Nova. I am in my 5th semester, so I will be done April next year.

They asked me what was the worst mistake I had made at my job and when I could not think of an example, she kept drilling me! I felt like they wanted some negative responses, I guess that would mean I am being honest???? I had some trouble with those types of questions. Wow, you must be so excited to be so close. I hear Nova is awesome!

Yea...honest answers may help as long as it is not like stealing or killing someone. You have to think, what will help me, such as a learning experience from a mistake. Well at least that is over. Did you ask when you will hear an answer? I think I got my answer in about a week or 2. They are pretty fas about letting you know, so you are not too stressed about how to pay. I am excited about graduating soon. The good thing about Baptist is the Scholar Nurse Partner (SNP). You work with a nurse up to the point of graduation, which will help with the transition as a new nurse. You will basically be seeing a nurse in daily action. You can do everything the nurse can (depending on your semester), except meds and drawing blood. But that's the least because nurses dooo so much more. I hope you get this opportunity!

It was hard for me to come up with something good while on the spot and of course when I get home, everything comes to mind! LOL! Yes, I am so glad it is finally over with and will try my best to stay positive! A week or two is not so long of a wait, so that is good. The program sounds really great! Thank you so much for the support and all the info! I get in too! Maybe I'll see you around in August! I'll keep my fingers crossed!!! I will keep you posted!

Hi MIABSN,

I think everyone gets asked different questions. I was expecting to be asked why I wanted to become a nurse, how to handle patient confidentials, etc. But I was not. I was asked things like my greatest weakness and biggest mistake on the job. It was pretty much a job interview. I hear nothing but good things about NOVA. I wish you the best of luck at your interview next week! Keep us posted :heartbeat

P.S. I am the one from the previous post, changed my username :)

I work for Baptist Health System in super South Florida. I've been with them for 18 years. It is a good place to work, and many, many avenues should bedside nursing not be the only thing to do.

I took time off to spend with my kids and they took me right back (with a $15,000 bonus to boot).

Love it.

Thank you Futureflnurse!

I'm just so nervous you know...but hopefully everything will be fine. I hope we both get in...it's funny because I was so anxious to know if I had been accepted into NOVA, and now it's happening again with Baptist. I'll let you know how it goes next week. Let us know about your status as well! Good luck!!

Baptist Health South FLorida is different than any other "Baptist Health System" in Florida. The organizational culture is different and, of course, so are the locations and treatment of employees, old and new. However, there is something to be said about getting your RN license for little or no expense and getting the first two years of foundation/ experience in a large organization that does not coddle you. It all depends on what your priorities are, where you live and what you are willing to live with and tolerate. Nothing is for free and there are no short cutes, no matter what it looks like from the outside. And, there is a lot of rhetoric surrounding Baptist health south florida and as long as you go in with your eyes open and do not believe everything you hear, you will be fine.

MIABSN:

How many people were part of the Baptist interview panel & what kinds of questions were you asked? I submitted my application to Nova so I'm nowhere near a Baptist interview, but I'm trying to gather as much information as I possibly can to prepare for the process just in case. The girl at the admissions desk said it would be about 4 weeks before I heard anything from Nova so we'll see - wish me luck!! :wink2:
