Baker or mott community college

Published

I am currently a scrub tech and I want to go back to school to become a nurse! I live in michigan and I am looking into baker for their bsn program or mott for their adn program. Does anyone know good or bad things about either of these programs?

Thanks in advance for any advice or words of wisdom!

I have not heard anything bad about either program. I went to Baker and Mott, both for something other than nursing, so I can't speak to their individual programs specifically, but I can tell you that Baker will be MUCH more expensive. Tuition at Baker is similar to U of M, while Mott will be much more affordable. When I was looking at nursing programs 11 years ago, Mott had wait lists to get into the program. If finances are a consideration but time to get into the program is not, I would recommend Mott. If you can't afford to wait for some reason and can afford the extra tuition, Baker is also a good choice. If you decide on Mott and still want your BSN, you can always do that part-time or even online while you are working and you will have money for tuition, or even possibly employer based tuition assistance depending on where you work. Are you planning to work in the area when you graduate?

I hope to stay employed at my current hospital but if that doesn't happen then yes I would like to stay in the area. Thank you for the advice!
