Thanks for taking the time to read this and all insight and opinions are greatly appreciated. I became a nurse in my early 40s. I started at a rural ER. I lasted 2 months. Then I no showed or ghosted them. I then got on at a large hospital and did tele for 6 months and moved to a big city and did non tele med surg for about 10 months. It was bad. I didn't do a good job. I started NP school. I moved back to my original city and got back on at my old unit. While orienting, I got upset and walked out. I had no plans of going back. I met with HR and was terminated. I signed the paperwork they asked me to sign. Since then I've done Pedi home health for the past 2 years while finishing NP school. I just graduated with a MSN as a FNP. I would like to go back to get on with a big hospital system, but I got this temination on my record and I don't think I am rehireable at the other hospital because of my manager- and of course my poor performance. Am I able to get back on in a hospital setting in a big hospital system. Moving forward should I only claim my 2 years of pedi home health as experience? I want to work for a big hospital system. Just wondering what you guys know about situations like this

Some people can get hired ... but that doesn't mean that YOU will. You have a bad job history that goes beyond 1 termination -- and that is going to complicate your situation. You need to find a job, any job, and stick with it for a while -- even if you don't like it. Once you develop a positive track record, then more and better opportunities will become available to you.

You may be able to get into another hospital system. Not all hospitals do super thorough background checks.
