bachelors or masters?

Published

Do you need a masters degree to become an oncology nurse or can you just have your bachlors? I am thinking of going into nursing school and would like to go into oncology, but this is a second career for me so I will only be getting my bachelor's degree probably. I was reading an article that said you need your masters.

Thanks!!

My friend graduated last year with his bachelor's here in Texas, and he's an oncology RN in Oklahoma now.

I hear on the East coast most people have a bachelor's degree, but here on the West coast it's about 50/50 ADN and BSN. We all make the same and have the same opportunity for all jobs (except for public nursing and some school nursing jobs require a BSN). An oncology nurse job is easy to get as long as they want to train you.

Our facility (in the Northwest) hires ADN RN's to work oncology as well as BSN's. As the above post, there is no difference in pay scale for ADN or BSN.
