Austin area school Nurse Pay

Published

I am an NICU thinking about going into school nursing in the Austin, TX area. I have 19 years of nursing experience. Can anyone let me know what kind of salary to expect?

Thanks!

I don't know about TX specifically, but a lot of districts will follow the teacher pay salary for nurses. You can usually pull that up on the district website.

I'm outside of Nashville, TN. While looking around on our county's school website today, I found an ad for a part-time school LPN (5 hrs a day), offering a whopping $11.22 an hour. Teacher assistants here get $9.32 per hour, and school secretaries get $12.00.

Thanks for the info!

Nice to know where we stand in the food chain!

I'm at a private school in Texas and I make $45K as an RN after being here 6 yrs. I

m assuming in public school you will start on the same scale as the teachers. They ususally don't count your prior nursing experience. You will start the pay scale as a 1st year school nurse most likely. Probably in the low $40Ks
