Attending a non accredited school California Endorsement

Published

Hello everyone, sorry this is my first post on here so I hope it's in the right topic category. I am currently an LVN in California and am interested in attending a nursing school in Florida (hybrid). I was accepted in a local program but it won't start until Fall 2023 and I am ready to be an RN already! My question is this: If I attend an non accredited nursing school but state approved in FL for ASN (RN). Will California allow me to apply for endorsement if the courses, pre-requisties, and clinical hours all meet CA BRN requirements? I have contacted the CA BRN and haven't received a definite answer on this. On the paper license by endorsement application it states "State Approved? Yes or No" but that's all that I can find. I've heard from others on here that if your school isn't accredited it can't transfer for endorsement.. so wondering if anyone has an answer to this. Thanks! (I should add that all my CA required general education courses were all completed at a regionally accredited CA University and that the non accredited ASN program in FL has an articulation agreement with an accredited University for RN-BSN, if that means anything!)

If it’s anything like MD you won’t be able to !

I hope you did not take this route. I was told my CA nursing counselors that they do not take the course curriculum of many out of state online programs. Especially without accreditation. Your program would not meet CA RN guidelines. What did you end up doing?
