Nurses New Nurse

Updated:   Published

Hello everyone!

I submitted my application to Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC at the beginning of its opening. And I just wanted to create this topic for those of us who are anxiously waiting to hear a response ?. And also for us future colleagues to get to know one another as well!

If anyone knows the time it takes to get a call or the process in its entirety please feel free to comment ?

Yes I applied to Novant as well ? I actually currently work at Novant as a CNA if you guys have any questions about working there!

I have a question! I recently accepted an offer for the critical care residency at winston. I was looking at the critical care units at Winston & I saw "5th NT CICU" - what does that stand for? They already have another neuro ICU unit.. I was assuming it may be "neuro trauma + coronary ICU" but I'm not sure?

Hi everyone!

I thought it was too late but Novant actually emailed me for a 30 minute ZOOM interview for med-surg. I am really terrible with interviews and don't want to mess it up, what was the experience like for those of you who interviewed with Novant and what questions did they ask you, if you don't mind helping me out, please! ?

Thank you!!

For those who accepted a position at atrium is their pay the same or less than novant? I got an offer from novant but not sure if I should wait to see How much atrium is offering.

We started at $28 but received a system wide raise due to the pandemic. We are now at $29.68.

What is Novant offering? We need to come together as nurses and openly discuss our pay. I'm so tired of the South not paying us what we deserve. That's why so many have left to travel. It's ridiculous. You can go to McDonald's and make $20 an hour now. Nurses need to start around $40 at bare minimum for all we do.

They offered me $29.68 base for the Med-surg track. $4 2&3rd shift diff which doesn’t apply to most because Its a 12 hour shift on all but one specialty & $3 diff on weekends. I also have Lpn experience which I think may have gave me $1 difference.
I make this in a LTC facility currently & I get a $2 shift diff for 2nd so I’ll be taking a pay cut.

sound like atrium wouldn’t be much of a difference from novant. I also applied/interviewed for lake Norman they aren’t requiring the vaccine & pay seems more promising but I haven’t received an offer.
decisions..

I am sooo excited ya'll .. and I also just want to wish everyone the best and I hope that you guys don't give up because I had started to lose hope! Everything that is meant for everyone WILL COME! And I know and pray that we will all get jobs of our desires ?

Hello, I'm currently 2024 new grad and was wondering if I could get some insight on your experience at NH.

Hey, I went through Novants ICU residency program in 2021 and have nothing but positive things to say about it. I loved the extra education and being able to rotate through units. I felt like I had a great support system and I was getting paid very well in my opinion for a new nurse. I actually received multiple raises within a year which was great. I would advise any new grad to do their residency program because they don't make you sign anything to where you owe them money if you decide it isn't a good fit.

Thank you so much for the reply! That makes me feel a lot better because I was seeing to go with Atrium instead but I definitely feel more confident in my decision to accept with them now.

OMG yes, definitely go for it! I actually worked a shift down there once just to see what it was like and it was really cool!

What about Atrium? What unit did they offer you for
