I got a call on Friday from Morristown hospital saying that they want to interview me for a hire learning program. I said okay, but we weren't sure of what time to meet up on Monday (today); so we have agreed that she would call me back on Monday to set up a convenient meeting time. She called back saying that I got my RN license for over one year and something about HR not approving it since its over one year. My license was issued august of last year, so it is on the dot one year since I have received my license. I was pretty excited when I got the call because I thought I have finally got a chance to work at a hospital that I wanted; now I'm bummed because I thought I was going to get into this program. It feels like I got denied for such a silly rule or policy to deny someone of an opportunity like this. On top of that, I really needed the job to start on my nursing career. I'm just mad because I feel like they were just toying with me; which is messed up from my perspective; since they offered a job and denied it to me without much explanation.
Anyone here gotten in the program or works for Atlantic healthcare that is aware of such rules? I want to understand how this works. I will be calling HR to ask about the reasoning for the 1 year thing. I really need the job.
Anyone know much about this program and policy?

I was told by HR that they were only accepting internal candidates (their techs who recently became RNs). I'm sorry that you got so excited, it's a tough market right now.

Hi. From your post it is does not seem like you were offered the position. It looks like they were trying to set you up for an interview but then took it back. They typically hire their own techs from within and will occasionally hire a recent grad from the outside with steller grades and experience. If you have been out of school for 1 year plus they will not accept you into the program. It is their policy.
