I work for a pediatricians office and I am required to help out with infant circumcisions she uses a gomco clamp with no anesthetic what is everyone else’s experience with this and have you ever assisted with one without anesthesia what did you do and how did you cope with it all

Hi! Bummer this poll closed - yes I have assisted with circs. Usually gomco or mogen. Most providers will use lidocaine, and the nurse assists by keeping baby stabilized/suckling on sucrose. Our hospital used to not use anesthetic at all and only give sucrose, lidocaine use is a newer practice. Is the provider really old school? I struggle to cope through circs all the time, even with anesthetic ?
