Hello fellow nurses:
I'm new here! I've been out of nursing for some 2 years now and desperate to return. I miss nursing, the families, the patients, working with dedicated folks around me!
I've applied for tons of jobs, am jumping through hoops I really should not have to jump and it's not helping! Does anyone have any ideas for a 50+ yr old rn with lots of experience? :o:o
I'm becoming very depressed over this and really sad, I'm spending tons of money on education such as CPR, ACLS, etc.; my license has never lapsed...I've got a pretty decent resume with cover letters always focused on the job and organization , I also practice interviewing and studying the company for days so I know quite a bit about it for the interview as well- I have very nice interview clothes...(I read the stickies on career/interviews )
If anyone has any help, ideas, suggestions,
:crying2:

Hi, I'm not a nurse and I'm only considering going into nursing... How is the job search going for you?
I really cannot understand why everyone talks about nurses shortage and now I see RN's unable to find work??

I feel your disappointment, I was in your shoes (and still am to some degree) less than a year ago. I moved to a new state; I found many job opportunities have to do with where you live/apply for jobs. I live in a small community but have a few larger ones within an hours drive. I applied to all the surrounding small hospitals, talked with a couple of nursing homes and a couple nursing schools about adjunct faculty openings. I found a job in one of the small hospitals prn in ICU-it's not my first choice in jobs but at least I can now continue to look around and hope for more options. In short, you may need to explore jobs that weren't first on your list. Best of luck!
