Anyone applying? I looked at their website and it says if you have taken any classes in a certain area over then you are ineligible to be accepted into their nursing school.

I graduated from AASU, but per the DON website:

"A grade of C or higher is required for Core Areas A, D, and F courses. Repeating any course in Areas A, D, and F in order to achieve a passing grade of at least a C, reduces the student's chance for admission to the Department of Nursing

Repeating more than one course in Area A, D, and F to earn a passing grade of at least a C makes the student ineligible for admission to the Department of Nursing"

Guess I wont be applying.

@NeecyBSN, how did you like AASU? I don't hear much about the school on here but I'm interested in possibly applying. I live in Metro Atlanta so I don't know much about Savannah, like job and clinical opportunities.

I would appreciate it if you could shed some light on this school.;)

I enjoyed my time at AASU. i encourage you to get involved with the student nurses association and become a class officer if you can. It is very easy to NETWORK in Savannah! The curriculum is challenging and the instructors are supportive! They want to see you succeed. The school has a summer externship with the local Trauma 1 hospital (Memorial University Medical Center)that will land you schoarship monies and a job if you are chosen for the experience. There are various other clinical sites/hospitals in the surrounding region including: St. Joseph's/Candler Hospital System, Liberty Regional Medical Center, East Georgia Regional Medical Center, Wayne Memorial. We rotated through various community clinics, mental health facilities and health departments in the region. You will certainly get your money's worth. The clinical electives are priceless!

I truly believe the curriculum is adequate for what you will see in the "real" world. You must maintain a 75% or better in all classes in order to move on to the next level. We started out with 80 and graduated 71! So far, all of my classmates who have taken the NCLEX-RN, remained in the area and passed are employed. Job opportunities are very competitive, as many are in this economy, but if you get your foot in the door you are practically guaranteed a job!

Savannah is a beautiful city, full of history and things to do if you like the tourist feel the city has. I myself am from a larger city, so i tend to get bored, but my husband is stationed here :D! If there is anything in particular you want to know about the program, please feel free to ask!

I was wondering if there were many cna opportunities over there because I am a cna here in Atlanta(parttime). I wanted to make sure that I could support my self while I am down there so far away from my family. You also mentioned getting my foot in the door, but I don't plan to stay in Savannah once I finish school down there since most of my family lives up here in Atlanta. I was wondering if you knew about which areas were not that expensive but also safe to live in because I don't know if I would live on campus or not.

Thanks.

There are many opportunities in hospitals, ltc facilities and home health in the area. Even more so if you have completed your first semester of nursing school. Even if you accept the job from the externship you are not required to work for the facility unless a job offer is extended upon application to the nursing residency program. There are several areas on the south side of Savannah within close proximity of the college that are priced with college students in mind. The college is on the south side as well. There are also affordable optiions in Richmond Hill, Georgetown and other surrounding communities.

Hello!

I am from Atlanta, and I am applying for Fall 2014! I would love insight on the scores you guys had for the TEAS V, and if you got accepted? I took my TEAS for the first time today and got an 81.3 Advanced. I will have around a 3.5ish GPA (or maybe higher) after this semester... I only have Microbiology and AP2 left.. and then I'm done!!

How competitive is the pool of applicants?
