Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Hi I am trying to find any updated post about ASU (ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY) RN to BSN online program. Has anyone enrolled if so do you like it? Are you able to balance work and school? (I work a lot and I'm on call.) If anyone already as a topic about this please link me. I found some topics but it seemed like it was entry level BSN.

Were you able to find information on ASU RN to BSN program? I finished their online program March 2016 and I really enjoyed their program and definitely recommend it! It was busy and I worked full time and then went part time for the last bit of it but it is totally doable. If you stay on track you can do it! And there are some assignments you can do ahead of time especially if you know you have to work. I loved how organized the program was from the recruiter to the faculty. There is one group project per class and a lot of discussion boards, but you get the hang of it. The semester is divided in 8 weeks so you can actually take more classes, I did 2 classes every 8 weeks, which equaled to 4 classes each semester. I started the program January 2015 and finished March 2016, I already had statistics and english 102 before I started the program. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Does ASU require clinicals for the BSN like California does?

For the BSN, you do not have clinicals. You already did clinicals for the RN degree. The BSN is more focused on evidence-based practice. There is one activity in the community health class that you do have to go out in the community.

Thanks for the reply. That's also how it is in CA :-)

I'm currently looking into RN to BSN online programs with a long term goal to be accepted into Psych NP program. So I'm trying to avoid any pitfalls of not being accepted into a NP program such as for not being regionally accredited, no GPA system, ect. In my encounters with talking to prospective schools, it's been like hitting a brick wall. First time poster here. Any advice welcomed.

What area are you in? If in California, You will not have any problems with any school not accepting your degree from Arizona State University online. It is a fully accredited program. I am currently in a MSN program at a local Cal State campus in California and had no problem with my credits.

If in California, Cal State San Marcos has a great NP psych program.

What about UOP RN to BSN? It's regionally accredited...I'm only considering it because I have taken some

classes there in the past, and it seems to be cheaper.

Did ASU alternate course availability each session? Or are all courses available each session?

ASU requires Math 142, but I can’t find any schools in Los Angeles or Ventura that offers an equivalent according to the ASU equivalency website. Did you guys have to take this course through ASU?

How hard was it to find a location for the “local” assignment? What is the assignment?

1. I believe ASU had a certain availability each session. You follow their roadmap which made it easy. I never had a problem not getting a class.

2. I am not sure about the Math course you are referring to. I had a college algebra class (Math 110) and that was accepted just fine, the class was taken at Cal State San Bernardino a few years prior. I also had statistics from Cal State San Bernardino and it was accepted as well. When I started looking into ASU, I set an appointment with the ASU online recruitment counselor and they reviewed my transcripts to see what they would accept. I was missing an english class and did that class at a community college before I joined ASU (much cheaper).

3. The community assignment was not hard to find. They give you a lot of resources to help find a place. I used my kid's classroom as I was a volunteer at the school. I did a presentation during "health week" on Sun Safety.
