Pima Community College Nursing Wait List

Hello,

I applied to the PCC Nursing Program in Dec 2013 and got accepted for the Spring 2019. I am currently taking my co-reqs but was wondering if anybody that has recently started or will soon start could please tell me how long they actually waited. I know that most people don't actually wait the whole 4-5 years of the wait-list. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I applied this year and was give 2021 as my start date. lol I know several people in the program now and they waited roughly two years. You should have been told when you applied if you did it online to check your school email daily. They will email you as spots become available and you have to be ready to accept them if they call you up sooner. I have already been bumped up to 2020 and I only applied in January. Its a hard program and many people will drop out. I am not concerned with my start date. I still have Microbiology and Nutrition to take with my support courses. I already finished everything else. I will take those two while I wait and work on saving. I have been told $2,000 is a good estimate for year one with everything you need to have: uniforms, equipment, blood tests and background checks. I will be working full time while I go to school, so I am using this waiting time to get major organized. Good Luck with school. :nurse:

Thank you so much for your answer! I don't know anyone in the program so the information was pretty helpful. Like you, I am currently taking Microbiology while working full time and saving. I check my Pima Email daily (obsessively, if I am really honest lol). I cannot wait to start! :D Again, THANKS!

I applied May 2013, was given fall 2018, bumped up TWICE and now its says Spring 2017. Have not found ONE person that has waited longer than two years! So your wait time should be cut down in half at a minimum:)

Thanks for the info! Although, now I am worried because I haven't been bumped yet. Am I doing something wrong?! I applied on Dec 2013 got accepted for Spring 2019 and I haven't been bumped yet - I check my Pima email multiple times a day. Should I contact someone at the school? Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated.

Just keep checking. I applied in 2004-2005. Started 2007 and finished in 2008 accelerated program.

Im just putting in my 2 cents but, Y'all should check into GCU. Its an amazing program and its only 16 months for your BSN. The prerequisites are pretty much a liberal arts AA or Ajack and its a BSN program. Hospitals are making their ADNs go to school for their BSNs and not paying for it ( UMC and TMC ) i know for sure. I know people freakout about the price but, its nationally accredited and no wait list!! 2019?? 2021? Thats crazy TALK!

I only wanted to share this because I did not know about this program until last fall and was shocked that their was another option in Tucson.

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that, after being really worried about not having been bumped up the waitlist since being accepted, I contacted the program and politely asked them if everything was okay with my application. They assured me that everything was okay and that it was just a matter of waiting. Today, two days after contacting them, I was bumped up a semester and two hours later I received a second email to notify me that I have been bumped again (yay!). Thank you all for your encouraging messages and tips.

I already have a Bachelors degree and some graduate credits as well, so going back for a second bachelors (BSN) is not an option for me. I personally don't want to pay twice for the same level of degree and Pima is the best option for me price wise. Sure, waiting sucks but I am lucky to have a 9 to 5 with benefits and I am still in my 20s and single so it works for me. My plan is to bypass the BSN; I am planning on getting my RN license at Pima and then going back to the U of A for my MSN (and then maybe DNP or CRNA). Are there any people with Bachelors here? If so, which pathway have you taken to become an RN? I would love to know.

I believe Pima community college is in Tuscon, so it is very likely that the Maricopa CCs are too far of a drive.

I am currently in the PCC Nursing Program (3rd Semester). When I applied I was given a 3 year estimated wait list, but was bumped up a year. They are pretty good about moving people up. Also, if you get put on an alternates list you will likely get in that semester. The director told me if everyone that was an alternate was actually prepared to start (all your immunizations, fingerprint card, cpr, etc) they would have all got in right away!

Anyone that has completed the Pima RN program, can you please tell me which hospitals/facilities your clinicals were at? Thank you!

I just got accepted & I am really interested to know the clinical locations.
