Nurse Extern Jobs

Does anyone have any information about nurse extern jobs? I've tried searching on my own and the information I find is scarce. I have heard that some hospitals hire nurse externs which are nursing students who have completed either one or two blocks but I am not sure how to find out about these types of jobs.

These types of jobs tend to only be offered during the summer. They will likely be posted just like a regular job on the facility's job posting site. Each facility may structure it differently. For example, in my facility, the externs have two rotations during the summer. They spend the first half in one department/floor and the second half in another.

Where I live you can extern all year long. The best way, IMO, to find an extern position is to put the term "nurse extern" into indeed dot com and save the search. You should get email updates when new positions are posted. I'm an extern currently in the ICU and I absolutely love it!! I'm constantly learning and it has solidified that critical care is absolutely where I want to work!

Not only that but I'm almost guaranteed a position on my unit when I graduate, and I absolutely love the unit culture where I work!

I looked into this a couple months ago and as far as I could tell, the major hospitals here in AZ don't have nurse externs.

Googling I have found Mayo does a summer externship.
