Is it time to leave Arizona?

U.S.A. Arizona

I have a decision to make shortly...do I leave Arizona for Colorado? I love the hospital I work for here, but that's the only thing keeping me in Arizona any longer. I've found a job in Colorado, so I guess it's time to say goodbye and part my ways with Arizona. Arizona used to be a great state to live in, and now it has deteriorated so much.

I would love the chance to go to AZ. Im from NYC and the job market is horrible!! What would be my chance of getting a job in AZ...new grad 2010? Also, how would you rate the cost of living?

Thanks!

Good Luck. Hope you like your new job!!!!

Very tough job market here for new grads. There are still grads from 2010 that have not found jobs. If you have experience since graduation, it may help some. Cost of living is ok. I hear ya, though. Relocated from MI 4 years ago. Love it here!! Make sure you have a job before you move. Good luck!!!

If you're a new grad, do not move to AZ unless like the other posters have stated ... you have a job offer.

Did you go to nursing school here or in Michigan? I am also from Michigan, and I moved out here to AZ to take a teaching job. I decided I hate teaching, and am doing the nursing program in the fall. Did you work as a nurse in Michigan? I want to move back to MIchigan once I finish. I know Michigan has such a large number of hospitals compared to AZ, so I am thinking my chances of landing a job there might be better than in AZ. What do you think?

I did my pre-req's in MI and nursing school here. Don't know about the market in MI...few friends say it's tough there too. Good luck! PCH is hiring according to a friend that works there.

HI, dhammo01--out of curiosity, where did you hear that they "have" to hire 2 new grad classes a year? Just curious because, if that is indeed true, that can help those new grads applying to be strategic about how, when, and where they apply. I'm starting my RN program in July, so this won't apply to me for a couple of years, in which time my thought is the economy make shake out a bit, but I suppose only time will tell!

hey orangesky, i think you misunderstood dhammo01. what they meant is that hospitals in tucson require new grad hires to take a new grad class upon being hired, which they only offer twice per year. thus, they only hire new grads twice per year.

Specializes in lots of different areas.

How are the nurses treated in the hospitals? Does anyone recommend a certain hospital in Phoenix area?

I guess it just depends if you going to an academic hospital versus a community hospital. I don't know if I could ever again work for a for-profit hospital ever again after working at a teaching hospital.

Specializes in They know this too!.

I moved from AZ in 2008 back to my hometown in MA and have had no luck with jobs in this area. A hospital in AZ is flying me out soon for an on-site interview. I would like to go back I am so sick of the games over here in MA. I went through all my savings living here.

It isn't Banner affiliated, nor am I moving to Phoenix area.

What is the pay rate in Tucson for experienced RN's?
