INTRODUCTION, Hello Arizona!

  1. Hello everyone, I just thought that I'd introduce myself as I will be joining your ranks in Arizona this coming summer. I am a UCSB, Univ of California Santa Barbara graduate and I am applying to the second degree bachelors of nursing program at the University of Arizona in Tucson. This is the only school I am applying to for this next year and so I have my fingers (and toes) crossed. I think that I have a strong application luckily, and should have a pretty good chance. My boyfriend and I visited Tucson this last July and just loved it. He has decided to pursue/apply for a doctorate program at the U of A and we will be visiting the area again this next month to buy a house because we are coming no matter what, we have decided to make Tucson our next home for us and our wonderful golden retreiver. I am very excited to be moving to what seems like a really great place and just wanted to touch base with the Arizona nurses and nursing students out there. Any comments or advice would be greatly welcomed, see you all very soon.

WELCOME TO ARIZONA :hatparty: I'm glad you liked Tucson. I live in the PHX metro area and can't really say I like it here I do like the no snow factor though :chuckle Hope you enjoy your stay!

Welcome to AZ!! You'll love it out here, although it does get a little hot in the summer :chuckle , something that's hard to get used to. I grew up in CA and have lived in AZ and Vegas for about 17 years and I'm STILL not used to it. Right now I'm completing my co-req's while waiting for nursing school to start. I start in January at one of the community colleges.
Sounds like you've got everything worked out with school. What was your prior degree in? I know that Grand Canyon University has a prior degree to BSN program too, if ASU doesn't work out for you. I have a prior BS and looked into their program, just a little, so I don't know much about it other than it's there and I'm pretty sure there's reduced fees for prior BS students. Where are you planning on living? Tucson is about 1.5-2 hour drive from Phx, but there are some communities in between.
