GCU BSN Tucson, Spring 2016?

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

So...I submitted my application to Grand Canyon's Tucson BSN/fast track program (for Spring 2016) about a week before the deadline (which was September 15th), and was told that I would hear back by October 15th. That date came and went, so I contacted my advisor and was told we'd get an email and/or post letter by Monday, October 19th at the latest. However, it's now October 22nd, and still nothing.

If we didn't need to confirm our intent to attend the program within a week of receiving the acceptance letter, I think I'd be feeling less neurotic. Has anyone else heard anything regarding a timeframe for when we should receive either acceptance or rejection letters/emails? I've never checked my mailboxes so hard in my life.

This sounds like typical GCU. If you go back and look at threads from summer and fall 2015, you'll see what I mean. They lead those of us applying along as long as possible and then they cancelled the program for the summer. Then they had us all reapply for the Fall and dragged us along again, but then they said they weren't taking transfers. It was absolutely horrible of them to do, and I am sorry you have to deal with them. I know there are more spots at that Campus, but they are probably trying to get all their students who didn't make the cut for Phoenix campuses to accept Tucson first. That is what they did when I applied.

I would say start looking at other programs to apply to. GCU is so unorganized and they do not accept transfers anymore.

My experience with GCU was absolutely horrible this past Summer and Fall. Their old nursing dean (who I heard was amazing) walked out for probably a very good reason and took a bunch of other admins with her. I don't know who they have running the program now, but from my experience, they were extremely unorganized and unprofessional. The whole thing was probably the biggest nightmare of my life. I have heard on the boards that current students are having trouble with clinical spots, which must be very stressful. I guess the whole thing was a blessing in disguise.

Anyway, like egaddy said. If you don't feel right about it, start looking into other programs. GCU seemed like a great nursing school, and I think it once was, but I just can't trust them anymore after what they did to hundreds of applicants and students.

I too have applied for Tucson Campus Spring 2016. I have been anxiously waiting and received an email saying that decisions are still in the works and that decisions will be sent out ASAP. Can't stand the waiting but doesn't seem as though we have any other choice for now. I am still keeping all other options open. Stay patient!

UrbanDurga,

Have you checked your email? I was pleasantly surprised with my acceptance email yesterday afternoon. Acceptance/Declines need to be in by Oct 30, 5pm so act fast! Good luck:)

Thank you for the responses, everyone! @Tucsonmom: Yay! Congratulations!!! I'm glad you got your acceptance letter! I've been checking my email multiple times per day, but haven't received anything from them, either way. Nothing by mail, either. I've left SO many messages for my advisor, but she NEVER calls me back unless I go through the main GCU number and tell them that she's been unresponsive. I called the main number again this morning, so I'm hoping to hear from her today.

Hi, I do not know if you all know of anyone that will be attending GCU Tucson this spring that needs housing but if you do let me know. I have a place that I am looking to sublease. Very affordable!! :)
