england to tucson

  1. I am moving to Tucson in a month's time from England. While I have done quite a bit of research, I would love some personal contribution about any and everything. I have an 8y/o. We are so excited. Desperate for some sunshine. A bit concerned about the adjustment at school and work though.

I moved to Tucson from the Northeastern part of the U.S. 3 years ago. I don't know what the pay rates are in England or how the cost of living compares but I was a bit shocked at the pay rate here a opposed to the Northeast. The cost of living here is no different compared to where I'm from but the pay is a fair amount less.
The weather is nice and if it is sunshine that you are looking for, you are coming to the right place! The winters are very comfortable. Bring your shorts for the summer! They say it's "a dry heat" but once the mercury moves over 100 degrees, it is just HOT!

What kind of nursing have you been doing? I work in home hospice and love it! There are many nursing opportunities here, so you should be able to choose from most areas that you are interested. Keep us posted on your move.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I will be going to St. Mary's acute care. I am looking forward to the heat so much I can't even imagine being too hot. I love moving about so this is exciting for me. My daughter is excited she is sure she will understand the accent because she is listening keenly to the cartoons : :chuckle

    Much prefer Tucson over Phoenix.
Make sure that you try the resturant called "Sweet Tomatoes", one of my all-time favorites, especially if you love salads and home-made soups.
