Anyone in Cochise county available for me to shadow them? I am starting the LPN program at Cochise College in January and have been told it's a good idea to shadow a nurse for at least a day to make sure this is what I really want to do. I'm open to any work settings as I'm not sure which direction I want to go yet.
A nurse alone cannot make this happen. You need to contact the facility directly. Someone can't just walk into a facility with a nurse and shadow for a day. And it is definitely not the nurse job to jump through hoops to get you a shadow experience. It is not unheard of to have prospective students shadow nurses for partial or full shifts. But it is up to the student to seek out facilities that have a process for this.
Okay thank you. Someone just told me to find a nurse to shadow for day so I wasn't sure how to go about it since the only nurse I know lives 4 hours away. Thanks for the info.
