Arizona Opportunities

  1. I have been an ED nurse for about 3 years now and I live in the state of IL. This state is about to die. I am looking for a possible relocation, was wondering about opportunities in emergency rooms in Arizona. BTW I only have my associates, currently working on my BSN. I am looking somewhere in Mesa, near the conservative side of town. And I love fishing

Since no one has answered you yet, I'll throw something out. I live at least a one hour drive from Mesa and don't get out there much. Banner has two hospitals out and are OK to work for. Google hospitals in Mesa and you will see the Banner hospitals. They like to hire BSNs now, but the fact that you are working on a BSN might be just as good. I hope you like bass because that's the dominant fish here!

I prefer the west Valley personally. Great access for major travel, such as Mexico, California, and the north. Not a long drive to downtown. Good lakes for fishing, and good access to the more rural parts of our great state. You may want to look into cities over here. Lots of demand for work...we have a huge retirement community, but still loads for younger peeps too. JMHO.

Of the two I prefer Gilbert, but obviously that is personal preference. We looked at homes in Chandler and I got irritated by the constant drone of the planes overhead. That may not be the case now, but about 10 years ago there was a small airport there and it felt to me that planes were buzzing overhead every 5 minutes. It drove me nuts.

Gilbert was lovely; very new, fresh...lots of new build homes etc. Lots to do, and easy access to Phoenix and the main freeways (read...jobs), especially for some of the major metropolitan hospitals such as Mayo etc.

These are all my subjective opinions, of course. I strongly suggest you spend a few days touring the area and getting a feel for the vibe of each city to find what works for you. Some will depend on your age, interests outside of work, whether you have children etc.

I am in the 30s with no kids, single. LOL. I am more of an outdoors person, I don't hang around in dark places with bright lights.

Not sure if you're considering outside of the Phx metro area, but if you love the outdoors and fishing, consider Lake Havasu City. Level III trauma center, and 45 miles of lake front plus the colorado river on either end. Hiking, biking, offroading, boating, fishing. And since it's "rural" 65000 people year round 100k ish during snowbird season/events BIG sign on bonuses
