Any Community Colleges Near Gilbert, Tempe, Scottsdale, Mesa

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

We are thinking of relocating to AZ, in either Gilbert, Tempe, Mesa or Scottsdale. I already applied to the nursing programs at comm. colleges here in the Central Valley area, CA that began in August. But do to application periods, I want to make sure I also get my applications in there in AZ in case of the move. I have waited for a long time to start nursing school and don't want to wait another 6 months because of a move. My questions I guess are : What schools would you recommend in these areas? and What do you think of these areas? I have completed all requirements for our schools here and want to make sure they are the same there. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks for Cali.

There are schools near each of these area's. They all follow the same nursing pathway, I beleive, and you put in one application, with a few school choices, and it gets you into one of the programs quicker if you are willing to go to more.

For example, if you lived in Tempe, it would just be a short commute on the highway to get to Mesa CC, or Scottsdale CC. You should call one of the schools and they will let you know what you have to do.

have you looked at the pre-reqs here? just to warn you the cc's require a class that seems to only be local (hcc 130). and also med term and a cna class or cert in addition to the other pre-reqs. our next app period is the end of march and you have to be in your last semester of pre-reqs or done with them. i have heard the wait is anywhere from 1 semester to 1 year. it will depend on your flexibility on which cc's you are willing to attend. anyway our system is sort of a lottery. basically you submit you application during app week. you get a time/date stamp (random not the actual time/date you applied) from that week. if the places are all filled when they get to your app then you get to keep the same date/time. so you essential go to the head of the list for the next semester. but when you apply there are already people waiting from the previous semester. you also need to take the net. they don't transfer and you have to take it at one of the cc's in the maricopa district according to the admissions counselor. gpa and net don't matter as long as you have passed each class with at least a c and you get at least a 50% on reading comp and 50% math

from the people i have talked to i don't think it is likely you would be able to start here in august. but you may luck out. i am hoping i get to start in august but am preparing myself to accept it may be next january.

Andrea,

I see on the list of prereqs that "Higher Level math course" after Intermediate algebra is listed. That was not on my sheet (which is really old, from early last year). So that means we also need College Algebra? I only have up to Int Alg, so I guess I'd have to see if Rio offered the College Algebra.

No I think it is saying that if you have something higher than interm. Algebra you don't have to go take int algebra. For instance, Calculus (equivalent of MAT 270) was my first college math course (way way back). So for me I don't have to go back and take interm. algebra.

Thankyou everyone for your help. I am having a difficult time finding any info. online. I have been trying for 2 days to get to the Arizona Board of Nursing web site and it's like it doesn't exist. I will look into the web site that listed the colleges, thanks. I will call them tomorrow.

I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on these certain colleges.

Thankyou again, Melanie :Melody:

Here is a link to the college of my first choice. The application and pre-reqs is the same for all of the community colleges in the greater Phoenix area. They are all part of the same district.

and the board of nursing, which seems to be down at the momement, although it does exist.
