Hello, what does the schedule for the Phoenix College Nursing program look like? I saw an older post but I believe the schedule has changed. Can you also include any clinical times, I'm trying to figure out work schedules.

	Thank you!

Hey there everyone, first time poster, long time lurker. So I just passed the NCLEX (YAYYYYY!!). But it seems taking a refresher course may be needed for me since here in Arizona after 2 years at the time of licensure a refresher is needed. Still waiting to see If I make the cut off (passed the day before LOL) but I'm trying to prepare myself just in case.

So my question is, does anyone have any experiences with the MedStar program? It's online until the clinical which I like. Can anyone say what the course was like, how to prepare for exams, how tough was it compared to nursing school? I'm just anxious that I may have to take more exams, I'm so tired of them LOL. Thanks in advance to everyone who responds!

Questions about Maricopa Community college nursing

	Hi everyone!
Has anyone gotten their nursing degree through maricopa community colleges? If so I have a few questions I'm trying to find the answers to.

Background: I am accepted into the Gateway Community college PM program for Spring semester for LPN, I'm going to go the LPN to RN pathway afterwards.

	1) I heard some cohorts have done Summer semester in previous years, is this true? if so, how is it decided which classes get to do Summer semester

	2) What are your favorite shoes for clinicals, I have normal arches... I heard your arch type can effect which shoes are comfortable

3) how soon before starting did they do the drug tests.. I know they're randomized and im not worried about passing but I feel like we're getting really close and they haven't sent out schedules or drug tests and im scared ill miss an email, when I did my CNA course we did them 1 month before starting so it just feels weird.

	4) I want to get a calico peekaboo (if you know what that is) but im scared that I'll pay all that money and then have to dye it back for school, since it's technically all natural colors do you think this will be allowed?

	5) what order did you do your clinicals in (ex.med/surge, L&D, correctional health, etc.) and how many clinical days were during each semester, also what facilities are options for clinicals? I heard they do correctional health at Lower buckeye jail... do all nursing students do this? is it a random few?

Thank you so much for your time!

I am an experienced RN (30yrs). I am moving to AZ, in the next 1-2 yrs. I am wondering about pay for an RN with my experience. My 30 yr experience is in the hospital as a Stepdown (with ventilators) unit. I also did some work in the Interventional radiology dept, Gi lab, HH, but that was 20 yrs ago. I am more looking for a clinic job, but I am OK with another stepdown unit too.

THIS IS NOT A DEBATE TO WHETHER YOU SHOULD OR SHOULDN'T GET THE VACCINE!!!

I know that some people do not want to get the vaccine or be forced to do so. Also a lot of nurses are quitting or being fired (for not getting vaccinated) and people are not very happy about it. I am wondering if there will be less RN students. I have no idea, it was just something that crossed my mind!

So, I've interviewed at all of the major hospital systems besides Abrazo in the area so I figured I'd just make a post here as I was looking for info and I couldn't find any.

Banner - Scheduled phone interview with recruiter, they asked me about 3 questions involving scenarios "tell me about a time". Immediately extended an offer letter. I have not heard great things about Banner personally from people that currently and previously worked for them. New grad pay is 31.00/hr 18 percent shift diff. 8-16weeks of orientation according to recruiter.

HonorHealth - Phone screening with recruiter, in person interview - mostly asking about your experience. Very friendly. 6-8 weeks of orientation. Highest pay by far - 34.00/hr w/ 18 percent shift diff. The low amount of orientation kind of put me off. Offer extended a couple days following.

St Joes - Zoom interview, very friendly and passionate panel interview with 2 staff members. A couple tell me about a time questions - offer was extended during the inteview as well! Pay is 32.50. Orientation is a solid 12 weeks. I have heard great things about Dignity from current employees.

Chandler Regional - Panel interview in person. About 5 people interviewing, it was pretty cold and felt like an interrogation instead of a conversation- again lots of "tell me about a time" questions. Got called later with a rejection. I kind of feel like you have to know somebody to get in here. Same pay and orientation as St Joe's I'd assume.

I hope this is helpful! If you would like to message me for more info, I can go into more detail.

I just applied to the ABSN a week ago. On the Kaplan, I got a 74 overall with a 65 in the science section. My prerequisite GPA is 3.1. I barely made the minimum.

When I spoke to the director a few days ago, I was told that 200 people had applied to NAU's program. I was also told that they are waiting for approval for the opening of another campus for ABSN in Phoenix which should come in early February.

I don't know the average Kaplan score, especially for the science portion. Some websites say it's around 68 overall and around 50 for the science which seems too low to me. If those numbers are true and they make the minimum science score 65 and overall 70 like they normally did in the past then out of 200 100 are out of the race right out of the bat.

With my scores in Science, I will be competing for 50 spots if they open the Phoenix program (30 for Flagstaff and 20 for Phoenix). If I include the alternates it might be 75 spots out of 100.

What's your prerequisite GPA and what score did you get on the Kaplan overall and for science? Also, if you have any new information about the ABSN this year post below.

If you are an older person like myself who feels called to the Nursing profession, GO FOR IT! I have been an LMT for 13 years, and believe that with 10,000 baby boomers retiring a day, and home health agencies accepting new grads, that I have a good chance to be hired and successful as an LPN or RN. Take care and enjoy the journey!!!
I submitted my application may 1 and the board of nursing received my affidavit of graduation from my school may 17. They have my finger prints and info but nothings been updated since may 17. I haven’t heard anything about when I should get my ATT to schedule the NCLEX. A classmate called late may and they said 2-3 weeks. I called June 9 and they said 3 weeks. Someone called today and they said 10 weeks.

Is this a regular thing? Are they always this backed up? Or is this a new thing? The time frame online says 30 days but many of my classmates have exceeded that already.
