Are there Pediatric home care jobs in Toronto and area as an LPN or RPN?

I was wandering if there are pediatric home care jobs in Toronto and area and how much they pay an hour.

I am currently doing home care in the Peterborough area for a pediatric client. It is full time and my only client. Be aware though, Home care does not pay as much as hospitals or LTC.

Bayshore home health hires pediatric rpns and Bloorview kids rehab hires pediatric rpns for in-patients. You can monitor their individual websites for job opportunities.

There haven't been a lot of job postings in Toronto thoughout 2009. The major reason for this is the huge provincial deficit. Some people are predicting layoffs, others are predicting job restructuring, either way, most people anticipate few vacancies in healthcare in Toronto througout 2009-2010.

Maybe the best thing to do in this economic climate is keep the job you have, save your money and prepare for the worst case scenario of moving to Toronto without the benefit of a job for the first few months. Who knows, maybe while you are busy saving money in Alberta, you will make a few friends and start to enjoy living there.

dishes, you are so right about Ontario right now. This deficit is getting bigger and bigger and I don't sense that business' are feeling too optimistic after hearing todays news. I just hope things get better soon.

Nessa. Can you please tell me how much the agency pay an hour? do they pay by experience? do they give benefits? I have been a pediatric home care nurse since 2002 and i love it . With my experience, am i going to get a little more ? if yes approx. how much?. Thanks again for your reply.

If your are expecting a wage in the mid $20/hr then forget it. I have worked for my company for 2 1/2 years and started out $15/hr. Now Im making $20/hr. I love my job and what I do so I dont mind getting paid less. I do get benefits but you have to work a certain amount of hours a period to get them. I am not sure if they give you more for your wages the more experience you have. In the present economy though, I would stick with any job u have now. I agree with the other posters. This economy sucks right now and the uncertainty is rediculous.

Thanks Nessa for your reply. In Calgary i work for Alberta Health Services, they control the health system in Alberta. Pediatric home care is now under the control of the AHS not agencies. They pay $28.44/hr plus $4.25 night and weekends diff. and pays all the benefits. My husband don't want us to live in Calgary, that's why i am finding out about Toronto. I am not planning on moving anytime soon, may be in the next 3years. Do they have lots of jobs over there?. Thanks again for your reply.

Hi Nessa, just to follow up. I might be leaving Calgary to Ontario. I just wanted to find out some information about pediatric home care jobs over there. Like i said earlier, i have been a pediatric home care RPN since 2002. My questions are; are there lots of jobs over there for this field? How much do they pay now? do they give benefits? are there full time positions? Do they hire PSW for same position? WHAT IS THE NAME OF YOUR AGENCY? Any information will be greatly appreciated.
