Hi folks, I've just arrrived in san diego as an "accompanying spouse" for the next few years; have yet to sit NCLEX (having too much fun!) but will get a 'round tuit' next year. Are you an aussie working in CA? how's your experience been with licensure and work conditions? Would love to have a chat! (i also posted this on the australian/NZ thread..)

Suggest that you get started with the process now, you may find that you will need to make up hours before you will even be given permission to sit for the NCLEX exam.
It is not going to be as easy as you think, just to give you a fair idea. It is going to be next year at the earliest before you will be given permission to sit for it.
Please be aware that you must have threory and clinical hours, done at the same time, in all of the required areas before you will be permitted to test. And that includes hours in maternal and peds, as well as mental health. Many from Down Under are short the hours in the area of Maternal Health with Labor and Delivery.
Highly recommend that you check out the International Forum for specifics as to what you are going to have to do to be able to sit for the NCLEX exam as a foreign RN. We also have the NCLEX Discussion Forum under the Student section that can assist you in preparing for the NCLEX-RN exam.
Best of luck to you.
thanks, that nclex thread is awesome!
well here goes!
