Per the request of janina08 I've started the April NCLEX takers support group. When do you take it? What are you using to study? Would anyone like to review any of the systems/meds that he/she feels weakest on? Let's keep each other in our prayers and good thoughts as we go through one of the biggest experiences of our lives. :)
hi! i'm reviewing saunders and the topic about infection control is just limited. any suggestion where i can find more info?what do I need to focus about infection control?
study kaplan. i would primarily focus on how diseases are transmitted (i.e. droplet precautions, standard precautions, airborne precautions, etc) and what is necessary to wear when you are assisting these patients (i.e. gown, gloves, mask). kaplan spends almost an entire section reviewing the basics on that stuff.
i've done a ton of kaplan questions, and there seems to be quite a bit covered on that topic...so don't just skim over it...i'm sure it's covered a great deal for a reason.
hope that helps. good luck!
oh, also chapter 16 covers it (pretty basically) in saunders' comprehensive review book ed. 4 (which is AWSOME)
Hi my April nursing family,The day is here. Tomorrow is the day for me. Can't seem to keep the books away still
Lots and lots and lots of prayers, good lucks, charm, good wishes and positive vibes are appreciated
I hope I'll get a good night rest tonight unlike on monday night - I stayed awake on my bed trying to put myself to sleep for maybe 3-4 hours
Need to be up by 5 am, so I should be zzz by 10 the latest.

I don't know how I will be tomorrow when I come back, but I'll just leave everything into God's hands now and just scan thru lab values and etc. I don't know what to say :) Thank you all for your undying support, helped me through out this time. God bless.
Icyblue, wish you lots of Postive vibes, energy, prayers and God's blessing for your exam tomorrow. And to anyone else, who will be testing tomorrow as well.
And someone please tell the answer before I head to bed, if u can :)
If your patient refuses to take medication, who should you contact? or what should you do?
Contact the nursing supervisor
contact the physician
Thnx.
Goodluck moments..

initially i guessed #2, as well. However, #1 does make more sense.
Naturally, deep breathing and coughing helps increase oxygenation, however, it plays a minor role removal of secretions...that has more to do with what respiratory therapists do (such as cupping of the hands).
The second choice makes more sense, because respiratory acidosis is (just like you said) a PRIMARY (and we all know how much NCLEX likes that word) concern and is highly likely to occur. If a patient is having difficulty breathing, it can put them at risk for hyperventillation which leads to resp. acidosis (breathing in too much O2, not blowing off necessary amts of paCO2).
Now, I could be TOTALLY wrong...but that would be my rational. Any comments if I am right or wrong are appreciated, that way I don't steer everyone in the wrong direction.
