Hi! I just sent out my application for the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh 2nd degree Accelerated Online Nursing program. If I get accepted I will be in the October 2014 cohort. I was just wondering if anyone else has applied & what your experiences are.

Hi alia913. I also applied to the October 2014 cohort. I really don't know what to expect... this is my first time applying. Reading other posts online, it sounds like we just wait for an email interview at this point and then a phone interview a little further down the road. And then I believe they email decisions in late May.
Hi ces419. I've read up on post from past applicants also... I guess I'm just really nervous. This is my first time applying too. I know they only accept 30 people into each cohort, and it seemed like a lot of people have applied more than once, which made me even more nervous. I wonder when the email interviews will begin.
I am really nervous too! Yeah I wonder when the email interviews begin... maybe sometime in March. How much CNA experience do you have?

Hey Everyone, I sent in the final documents in for the October cohort on Feb 10 and now anxiously awaiting the interviewing process. I have been reading about the program and it sounds intense, but doable. This will be my first time applying to the UWO program, but I have applied to the UMN Accelerated MSN degree in the past, twice. I got an interview the first time and had to turn down the interview because I was very sick and was not going to complete my bachelors degree in time for the program. This past year I did not receive an interview and I am hoping this will be a change in my "series of unfortunate events" :) I have been a CNA for 7 years (in May) and I worked at a nursing home from May 2007-Dec 2013 and recently started at a hospital in December. I finished my bachelors of Biology in Dec 2012. What is everyone else's story? :) good luck to everyone!
Hi! I worked as a surgical tech for 10 years and have more recently worked as a nursing assistant for 1 year on the telemetry/oncology unit at my hospital. I don't have my certification yet, but I am enrolled in the American Red Cross CNA Program. Its a month long and they wrote a letter to UWOsh saying I would have my certification by the deadline. I am just nervous I will not get accepted because I don't have my certification, yet, even though they said it was good enough for the Red Cross to send a letter. I also have a BS in Bio and will have a Master's in Public Health in May.
Allycat441- that sounds great that you have so much CNA experience, it seems like they are really looking for that. And Alia913, i think they will take your surgical tech and other experience into consideration even though you don't have your CNA certification yet. I got my certification in August but I have only been working as a CNA since October at a nursing home. So almost 5 months... I hope that is enough. I just graduated last May with a BA in both Criminal justice and Anthropology... (i thought i wanted to go to law school, but worked as a legal intern for a summer and hated it) So now i am hoping to go for nursing! How did you all do on your TEAS test?

Hey Everyone,
I am applying to the October 2014 cohort as well. I thought I would just let you all know that I have heard back from UW Oshkosh and they are beginning phone interviews already. I have my phone interview next Monday! But I haven't heard anything about an email interviews yet.
As far as my background. I have about 3-4 months experience as a CNA and I worked for about a year as a program counselor in a group home (we did a lot of the same work that CNA's do, plus I got to pass medication, do tube feedings and take my residents to medical appointments, along with some more fun activities like crafts and outings :)). I will be graduating from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, with a BS in Kinesiology, this May. I'm originally from WI, but I plan to complete the program in IL.
I look forward to hearing more from you all as we go through this application process. It's so nice not to feel alone throughout all of this!
I had my phone interview yesterday! Everything went well. I heard from them today about the online interview, so I assume that's the order things are going in this year. Phone interview first then email interview.
@laud0057 That's awesome your phone interview went well. I have mine next Wednesday. I am very nervous! Did you think it was difficult?
Hi All!
I just got an email today about the phone interview too. My phone interview is next Thursday. So nervous! laud0057, did you find your phone interview difficult or pretty much what you expected? ces419, that's great you have yours next week too! Can't wait to hear about it :)
@ces419 Congratulations on the interview! I was very nervous as well, but now that its done and over with I don't think that my nerves were necessary. The interviewers were very polite and easy to talk to. And I wouldn't say the interview was difficult. The questions are very straight forward and you can tell that they are really just trying to get a better understand of who YOU are as a person, student, and potential future nurse.
Good luck with your interview on Wednesday!
