Applying for nursing to George Brown College

Published

Hello allnurses,

I took a break after I finished High School and my previous marks were not that great (50-60). I came back to school in 2015 september and I applied for RPN program George Brown program. My previous math mark and chemistry marks were in 50-60, so do you think I should take an assessment for it? Or should I retake those two courses and send them my midterm marks? Can you get into this program with 70's? I called them and they did told me that the program is highly competitive.. I really need help because I'm not sure i'll get into the program. :( I really want to get in since I live closest to this school, and if there are alternatives ways.. What can i do? Thank you for reading this, I need your help!

I can't say for certain, but highly competitive usually means an average needed of 85% ish. Maybe a little lower, depends on the school.

If I don't get into the program, can I also do personal support worker and bridge to practical nursing as well?

Some people do the PSW program and bridge to the practical nursing. I dont know if you are aware, but George Brown has information sessions on the PSW program, an information meeting would good place to find the answers to some of your questions.

You need to have a good grasp of chemistry and math. I would retake them. You would need marks at least 85+ to get in.

Hello thanks for reply and I will definitely look into it!

Hello Lori,

I applied in first week of december and right now i would only have my bio and english in before february. If i retake chem and math, it would be during feb-may for me to get my marks in. Do you think it will still be okay? Should I get my midterms mark in by march-april?
