applying for new york

Published

hi guys,

i need advice. i am based in the philippines but i want to work in new york someday. i read from the other threads that it would take some time to apply for initial licensure via new york. What would be the best way to get there? would applying via other states like new mexico for initial licensure then applying for licensure endorsement to new york save time?

would appreciate any inputs you may have.

Oh no. It won't save time at all. NYSED will still require you to do the CVS no matter what. It would only delay you much more if you do that.

Apply directly for CVS for NY if you want to work there.

You have to make sure you follow-up everything. 1st, make sure that CGFNS has indeed sent their request letter to your school and to PRC (if you are licensed in the Phil.)

Then ff-up on your school or PRC if they have received it and if they received it make sure they do it on time and send it accordingly. If you have to pay for the courier yourself, better rather than wait for the tussle between your school and CGFNS. Some schools allegedly claim that they do not receive anything from CGFNS to pay for the mail back to them. This is one of the areas where the delays come from.

thanks lawrence for the input. i just read your reply to my query today. am still getting the hang of using this site.

Just want to add that it takes quite a long time for the CVS as what other posters are posting here. So they actually apply for another state but if that's where yo want to work you really don't have any choice but apply directly to them.

Hi Lawrence,

Instead of waiting for CGFNS to send a request to the school or the PRC, is it possible to download the request form and give it personally to the school or PRC and let them send it to CGFNS?

I think if going the NY route then you have to wait for CGFNS as that is the agreement they have between each other

Just like what Anna said that's their arrangements. That's what makes it diff. and stricter compared to the CES.

There's a reason why they have to mail it to the appropriate licensing body and school.

So, with regard to the CVS, CGFNS has to request the records themselves, right? But with the CES, you can download the form and request the records yourself, is this correct po?

Thanks.

That's correct. The school sends it directly back to CGFNS in both cases.

Yes. The school and the licensing body will have to wait for the letter of request coming from CGFNS (CVS) while for CES you can just download the forms and request the licensing body and your school (give them the forms directly) and make the appropriate fees to them to process it.

The CVS is unque to NY only.

hi guys, just want to know if i can apply CVS or NCLEX for NY even without my license yet?
