Hello experienced all nurses- quick question. I want to leave my current job;a rural hospital has openings for an oR job. I want to speak with someone first to find out what is involved as I have no OR experience per se, but 6 yrss exp. as cards/tele/ interm. care nurse.Would I talk to the recruiter, or are they just there for new grads? Or just put in an application and ask questions after( but I feel this could waste their time- I'd rather know some things first.
I've never been a job hopper- so I don't have a lot of experience changing jobs.
Thanks guys
Dalla

First of all, log onto the operating room nurse specialty section here on allnurses and read some of the posts. Second, there is an excellent article about "What Operating Room Nurses Do". Third, call the nurse recruiter at the hospital and explain that you would like to explore different areas of nursing and ask to shadow an RN in different areas. That is part of what human resources does - not just for new grads.
