Hi,
Can someone answer this question for me? I live in Texas, and received my TX license 2 months ago. Texas is part of the compact. I'm thinking about moving to NY in a few months. And I know that NY is not part of the compact. What is the process of obtaining a NY nsg lic if I have a Tx lic...And if I do receive a NY lic, would I lose my Tx, and thus, my compact license?
Please help.
Thanks

I don't know how it works for LVNs.
For RNs, if you move out of a compact state to a non-compact state, your compact license becomes good only for the state it was issued in. So if I was licensed and living in Texas and moved to NY, I'd still keep the Texas license but it could only be used in Texas--I couldn't work in any other compact state unless I got endorsed into whatever state(s) I wanted to work in.
Otherwise the endorsement process is the same as if you moved from one non-compact state to another: go to the NYS BON website and see what requirements you have to meet and to get the application.
Hope this helps!

ffliper 27,
i just received my NY license and am looking into applying in TN. opposite of your situation, but if you go to the nys board of nursing website, you will find info on applying. you will get license through endorsement and will have to pay a fee. you can keep both licenses for tx and ny but will have to pay both states for renewal when the time comes. wish i could be of more help. hope others with experience in obtaining ny license from another state reply. good luck. :)
thank you very much for the info...yes this helps.
thanks
