Applying for jobs

Published

I’m getting ready to start my senior year of nursing school in my accelerated BSN program in mid January or even beginning of February. I was wondering if it would be to early to start applying for jobs. I was doing some research and same a couple of potions that interest me that said Winter 2021 graduates. I’m expected to graduate sometime in August. Should I apply to this job or wait until some August 2021 positions start to open up. Is 8 months in advance too early? How far in advance should I start applying?

Your instructors will let you know when the time is right. If you apply early chances are the hospital will want to sign you on as a CNA working PRN until you graduate. Many early hires are CNAs to cut down in administrative crap.  Otherwise reach out to the HR department of your desired employer

They are looking for December graduates. It is assumed that they would take and pass NCLEX in mid-January and be ready to start by end of January or first of February. You need to wait until Spring when they post for Spring 2021 graduates. Even then you are at a disadvantage for those positions since you do not graduate until August.

There is a big influx of graduates around May/June and December. You will be graduating during a lull in the supply of new grads which may give you less competition (depending on your area) when you are looking for jobs.
