Applying for jobs between states

Published

Hi all,

I have a question regarding applying for jobs between states. I currently live and practice as an RN in Nevada. However I am moving to Minnesota. I used to live in MN and was licensed there, but when I moved to Nevada I did not renew my Minnesota license. I have already applied to MN to renew my license and am waiting for that.

My question is: can I apply for jobs in Minnesota even though I do not currently have a Minnesota license? (I am licensed in Nevada). And what would happen if I accept a position in Minnesota before my license is renewed or if I encountered a problem with renewing my MN license?

I hope this all makes sense.

Any advice would really be appreciated.

Thanks! :p

:) Yes you can apply for jobs in Minnesota now. However, I don't think most places will offer you a job until you actually have your Minnesota license. Good luck. :balloons:

HI,

I just moved from Ohio to Michigan. I applied for a job about 6 weeks before I moved and was not only called almost daily by the nurse recruiters, but I got a relocation bonus when we finally moved. They were very helpful, not only in finding a job that suited me, but in finding out other things out about the area (my recruiter helped me find a boarding stable for my horse!). You can also take your time in researching the facilities that you are applying to, and making your choice of where to work. You cannot practice in the state until your license is valid, obviously, but applying early is a good thing!
