Applying for jobs in multiple states

Published

Not sure if this is the correct place to put this so I apologize if it isn't! =)

I graduate July 2011 and want to apply for jobs in my current state (Georgia) and Florida. What are the steps to do this? Do I sit for boards in Georgia and then just apply for licenses in GA and/or FL depending on job offers? I'm so confused so any insight you can give me will be very much appreciated! Thanks! =)

It all depends on your states nursing board...if it is apart of the nurse compact act then you can apply in multiple states that are included in the compact...for instance I live in Ohio and wanted to move to NC ohio is not apart of the compact act so I had to apply for endorsement to NC and once it goes through I will no longer be an Ohio nurse anymore my License for NC will allow me to keep my endorsement for NC and be able to work in states including in its compact act I dont know for sure what states are included but its like 13 other states...so if I choose to apply for a job in one of the states I can apply for positions and be endorsed without forfieting my license...thats how traveling nurses go from state to state but if you go on your boards website it will tell you exactly what you need to know just look under endorsement...hope that helps:)

I am in the same boat as you. I want to apply for Florida but it is very pricey. I think around 400.00 for a license. However, the wages for Florida are very low. I am used to the low wages of GA but I did not pay as much for a license. The best bet is probably a compact license if you can move to those states.
