Hi all,
I'm hoping to be accepted to Charity in the fall of 2015 bit I'm nervous because I got a DUI back in 2009. Has anyone else has this issue or have any advise?

Be honest and explain to nursing board. They are more acceptable that way. Check LSBN website for list of what disqualifies you. I had a felony from 14 years ago, but, after LSBN review they granted me acceptance. I made sure I had all documents pertaining to charge and letter of explanation when I sent packet in. If not, they will write you and ask for more info. This causes a major delay. Some people I spoke to said they can wait till after clinical starts before replying. Don't try to hide it because they will find it. Good luck.

Talk to a lawyer to see if expungement is possible. You will still have to declare expunged charges to the BON, but it will help considerably with the job hunt.
And I agree with the prior poster: be honest. Honesty goes over far better with BONs than their finding out about your DUI on their own.
Good luck!
