Applying to Chamberlain Atlanta, GA Spring 2018?

Published

Hey everyone! I am learning how to create posts on here, but I think this is the correct forum! Ha!

Per the title, I plan on applying to Chamberlain in Atlanta, GA spring/summer timeframe in 2018. I have been contemplating the best route to take as far as getting into nursing school. So far, Chamberlain seems to be my best choice. I have already attended an open house, which I love. They are a no none-sense school. By the time I apply, I will have taken all of the main courses besides nursing, so my tuition will be exceptionally lower. (Chamberlain is expensive if you are planning on going there without any previous credits). The pass rate is phenomenal and the local hospitals enjoy the students from this school.

Anyway, I was wondering, is anyone else out there is thinking about applying to this school around the time I mentioned above?

It would be nice to get to know some possible future classmates!

Thanks,

Melanie

Hi,

Have you looked at all your other options? I know Chamberlain required the HESI exam and a lot of people try to avoid it lol

I know that most credits do transfer to their program. It's a year round program with spring, fall, summer and winter. The good thing is since you have credits you should be done in less than 3 years.

My friends are there and they like the program. I went on a tour and it was really friendly with small class sizes. They're new to my state and they're getting g quite popular.

Good luck!

Thanks for your input! OMG, yes, this has been an on-going process for the last couple of years as far as what schools and when to start. lol I truly believe Chamberlain is the place for me.

I bought some HESI study guides because I am not good at taking standardized test. My weakest subject is math, and I tend to freeze up and overthink. For this test, I decided not to study too much and burn myself out before the test even starts. I think maybe two months prior is how I will approach.

When I went to their open house, I fell in love with how they operated; the SIM labs were amazing! They did an informal credit evaluation, and most of my credits transferred. So, if I can get these last 6 classes in before I apply there, I will basically only be taking nursing courses and I think that'll leave me with 18 months only!

So, the main obstacle is tackling this HESI exam!:scrying:

I am determined to make it happen! lol

Hey there!

I am hoping to be a student at Chamberlain's BSN program too, though not in your area nor in 2018. I am in love with this forum and am new myself.

Chamberlain seems like a great school especially of you've completed the prerequisites beforehand to minimize the costs. Everyone seems to have their doubts about these kinds of schools but if they did they're research it is just as competitive as other nursing programs. Plus I don't want to wait additional years than what I already waited.

I'm hoping to get into Sac campus spring next year. Won't hear about acceptance until possibly this Monday 17th or sooner. I'm dead nervous.

Don't sweat about the HESI. Just look up tips on YouTube for math and know conversions, military time, Roman numerals, ratios, decimals, percentages and word problems along with basic fractions (add, sub, multiply and divide) and algebraic equations to solve x.

I scored well but am nervous it's not competitive enough!!

Anyways hope someday I'll read you got in next year!!

Hi! Thanks for your post!

I completely agree with you, Chamberlain is a great school and perfect for us who have the main pre req and core classes. It sure does cut the expenses down. I understand other schools are cheaper, but why put your life on hold just to possibly get rejected?

I say if you can manage the costs, the go for it; that's exactly what I will do!

Yes, research! I see many people saying negative things on here about the school, but they are just rumors in my opinion. No facts, purely opinions. I personally went to their open house, and they offer unlimited tutoring programs and the SIM labs are amazing. Plus their pass rate is high, and

Thank you so much about the HESI advice; I will be getting up to speed in these areas. I want to learn to appreciate math more, and not run from it. lol:roflmao:

Please let me know what you hear next week! I wish you the best, and hope you get in!!!!!!

I will add you as a friend, so we can stay in touch. I'll keep you updated on everything for sue.

How long ago did you attend open house? Make sure you keep in close contact with your admission advisor because their transfer credit policy recently changed. Also, if you are going for the on-campus BSN program the fastest you can complete the program is 28 months, not 18. As you know the school is expensive so please do yourself a favor and get yourself clarification soon, because these differences can be very costly. Good luck!

:)Thank you for your input. I actually attended an open house in the last couple of months and was given their most current curriculum. I will have completed my BA next Summer, and most of those credits, including sciences will transfer, so it will be less than 28 months per credit evaluation.

Also, I have my GI bill (military) to pay for costs, so I will be fine in that department, and it is definitely something I have carefully researched and weighed for a few years. Plus, the tuition total will not be as bad since I have several classes already completed. I am confident and excited on the decision I have made.

Are you in school or looking to start nursing?? If you are, I bet you are just as excited!!

I am hoping to begin a tad bit sooner than that. But I feel the support we get being in the same boat helps! I actually got all the way to pediatric and Maternal nursing at GTC . things didn't quite work for me at that school, so I've decided to to move forward at a new one. I have a few main classes left myself (Chem, philosophy, public speaking, & statistics) and I will be good to go. I plan to save my bucks same as you ;) A very wise choice IMO. Who knows, we might end up taking some classes together :)

That is awesome! I am glad to meet you. lol There seem to be only a few of us... I am trying my hardest to go ahead and finish the sciences before fall 2017, so I may actually be able to start then too! If not, it would be the beginning of 2018 (Believe they have a January class). It would be great if we are classmates, and really there is a high possibility since we both have previous credits. I can tell you and I would get along just from your cheerful demeanor! ***warning, I am a very optimistic person*** Hence my username. lol:roflmao:

Hello!!

I am in the nursing program in Illinois, and just started in August. The process of getting in was in fact long but completely worth it!! I did manage to bring into the program 50+ credits and will be moving onto clinicals in March (very excited!!). My suggestion is to get as many prerequisites out of the way now so the price is less.

Overall my experience has been absolutely wonderful. If you're the kind of person that likes fast pace and gets bored in 16 week courses than chamberlain is for you. I myself has never really liked school, I never studied, nor had an interest. But with Chamberlain I feel like I'm actually learning and retaining what has been taught. And now I can't wait for what's to come next.

Best of luck!!!

Em

P.S

I will eventually end up in finishing my degree in Atlanta due to the fact that my fiance just landed a job there. I am hoping to transfer there fall 2017 or earlier. I graduate in November secession of 2018.

Thanks for your response! Yes, I have an associate's degree and am just trying to get more pre nursing courses done! Wow, we may have a class or two together. :-)

I've never taken 16 week courses in college before, I LOVE fast pace classes!!!

I wish you the best!!!
