Applying for Atlanta RN jobs before graduating?

Published

Ok so here is my question,

I just completed my coursework to become an RN but my graduation date is not technically until June and I want to get the jump on applying for staff nursing positions in Atlanta but I can't seem to get a straight forward answer on wether or not I can apply for these jobs without having taken my NCLEX yet. There are a lot of places that have job postings for extern/internships (I have applied to a ton of them also) but I am curious about the regular job postings. I recently applied for a staff position at a local hospital but when it got to the section asking if I am licensed I felt like it was dishonest to say yes and it kicked back that I am not qualified for the position. Can anyone tell me if this is just a stipulation for certain facilities when filling out applications? Or should I be able to find job postings for "New Grads" that are not intern/externships? I appreciate any information anyone can share with me :)

Definitely apply to stuff in the Atlanta area before graduating... I knew some CNAs graduating school at the same time as me that were hired well before they graduated and passed NCLEX. It is not uncommon to get a job offer before graduating in the South.

Specializes in Critical Care; Cardiac; Professional Development.

Internships for new grads know you still have to pass NCLEX. A lot of regular floor nursing positions won't take on a new grad. Apply wherever you can.
