how to apply nclex exam in australia

Published

Hi guys I'm a registered nurse here in australia and im planning to apply for an nlcex exam. Where and how can i apply for that? Thank you

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Starting point would be meeting a state's requirements for IEN and your transcripts must show clinical and theory hours in Paeds, Mental Health, Obstetrics and Adult. Without meeting requirements you will not get eligibility to sit NCLEX

What state do you wish to work and practice the minute you pass the NCLEX?

Where is your original BSN degree from (country)?

You don't apply "for an NCLEX." You apply for licensure in a US state, and passing the NCLEX is one step in that process. Once you have submitted all the necessary documentation and met all the other requirements, you'll be authorized to test. First step is knowing (or deciding) in what US state you want to be licensed (where you want to live and work).

If you pass your nclex in the States, will this be permitted as proof required for Australia. Im not sure and haven't looked into it too much, but working as a nurse in Australia has always appealed to me. Please let me know if you know the answer otherwise I will call the board of nursing next week

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

If you wish to work in Australia you need your education and credentials evaluated by APHRA as an international nurse.

A US BoN only oversees nurses and nursing candidates in their respective state. The NCLEX is irrelevant to practicing nursing overseas. The state BoN would have no information regarding licensure or work as a nurse in Australia.

You usually need a BSN (from an accredited school) plus work experience

Thanks for that. I am planning to apply for licensure in Utah. I want to live in work there. What is the first step I need to do? I completed my bachelor of nursing both in philippines and australia.

Thank you guys. First of all I completed my bachelor of nursing both in the philippines and australia. I am planning to apply for a licensure in Utah. Can you help me what I need to do first?

You apply to and pay for CES from http://www.cgfns.org

Then you complete the application for license by examination from UT BoN: http://www.dopl.utah.gov/apps/nurse.pdf
