Applied for Secretary III- Neonatology

Published

I applied for this position at a children's hospital today (very interested in Peds & NICU) b/c I have been accepted as an alternate for the Nursing program in August. I thought it would be a good idea to gain some hospital experience if I don't get in or even if I do. I have no previous medical experience but experience, however made it clear that I would like to. My jobs previously were: Nanny and 2 title companies & a real estate company. I certainly have the customer service, admin. part down & I have completed all AP, Chem & Micro.

I was just wondering what my chances are. I received an email after I submitted my application that said they would contact me in a week if I was eligible. I certainly feel that I am after looking at what the requirements were. Should I call or walk in if I am not contacted? I don't trust that blindly submitting your information online gets you anywhere.

Thank you for any advice.

Good luck to you!

I would make a phone call to HR after about 10 days has passed. You have nothing to lose.

GOOD LUCK!!! Let us know what you find out.:p

Not to get your hopes up, but if it is a Secretary III position, chances are they are going to be looking for someone with medical secretary experience. I just got a position like this, but I've been working in the hospital setting for a while and the amt of training is minimal compared to what a new employee/some one with no medical experience would need.

Best of luck though!

Thank you for your reply.....weeks later & nothing.....guess I will keep searching. On the upswing I have a lot of experience with children, customer service & office work, plus I'm a quick learner & finished prerequisite courses with all A's & 1 B- hopefully this is what someone is looking for. Back to the drawing board. Thanks again.

I'm lucky in that I seemed to have been in the right place at the right time. I would suggest to you is to look for more of an entry level position in to the hospital if this is your goal. Apply for Secretary I positions. Also, look to per diem positions...it might only be part-time work, but getting into a hospital is your primary goal. Once you are in, it becomes a little easier to move around.

Good luck to you.
