Hi everyone!

Today received a letter from the Queensland Nursing Council stating that I'm eligible for registration but need to demonstrate competence. But there is no longer any form of bridging program available.

They suggest to put my application on hold until the commencement of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

This confuses me a lot. I do not understand how long will it take for the new Board to assess my application again? Or assessment is not required since the QNC has already done this? Who knows what kind of bridging programs will be available? Will such applications as mine (submitted at the end of July 2009) be a priority for the new board?

Thank you in adnvance for any information you possess on this issue.

We are on the same boat. I think they are also preparing the competency standards for us that's why they are not revealing until then. But still there are so many questions to ask. It would be nice if they give us a glimpse so we can prepare ahead.

hi xekie,

10 years.

i wrote them a letter and asked questions. the only answer i received was "if you choose option 1 (to put application on hold) your application will be forwarded to ahpra, however, we do not know whether it will be assessed under ahpra's requirements as we do not have this information"

in the other states the bridging programs are not cancelled and their boards continue receiving applications for assessment. i wonder why queensland nursing council decided to shut down everything.
