Anyone worked at Kaiser LA?

Published

I was offered a contract at Kaiser LA and I've been looking for reviews but haven't found any recent ones. Does anyone have experience working there as a travel RN? I've read through a thread from 2014 saying all Kaiser facilities treat travelers horribly but I'm wondering if LA is any different or if conditions have changed since then.

Thanks!!

The primary issue for travelers is floating. Travelers work 12 hours, staff works 8. Do the math and you could float every 4 hours. However, coming from NY, you may find that pretty easy considering California staffing ratios. Kaiser sticks to them religiously. You will get a mandated fully relieved break every four hours plus a meal break.

Specializes in ICU, and IR.

I was there 8 months ago and the staff are horrible. Yes you float but honestly I dont mind that. I am ICU and their ICU are so rude and even have potlucks where they put a sign that says no travelers. Travelers are also not allowed in staff garage you have to use sketchy parking lot 2 blocks away. I am at Kaiser Antioch now and its 100% better. I actually liked floating to their (LA's) step down unit much nicer there so it does depend on what unit you work and probably what shift. Side note you can have all the OT you want there.

That is one rude potluck!

Mean people suck. I always liked that bumper sticker.

Wow that's really crappy. And the managment ALLOWS this?! I have to say I have been traveling for 15 years and I have never been treated that way. Never worked for Kaiser though.

Bumping this thread. I am wondering if anyone knows how common it is for Kaiser travelers to be hired on as staff once their assignment completes?

I think this could be a way to get hired with the company since traditionally their staff positions are so competitive.

Does anyone know of a good agency currently that does NICU travel with housing to So Cal?

I was there for 3 years 8 years ago. I want to return. Hard time finding a decent agency that pays fair.

Thanks for any input.
