I was contacted by a recruiter who saw my profile on LinkedIn about a position for a inpatient psychiatric RN supervisor. I am currently a psychiatric RN at a different inpatient facility. If they offer me a job I'd be interested in joining this company because it's much closer to where I live therefore I wouldn't have to commute 45 minutes one way as I do currently.
Anyone know anything about his company in terms of culture, working conditions, etc.

I've dealt with Telecare on occasion, but that's all I know about it.

In my area, Telecare is expanding and the facilities are PHFs, (psychiatric health facilities), for acute psych Pts. I know a few people who work at Telecare and like it. In my area, the PHF ratio is 16:1. I'm assuming an RN supervisor is a DON type of position. Have you worked in a PHF before?

Think I've seen employment ads in my area lately. Know nothing about them.
When the position was described in detail to me, it sounds just like a charge nurse position, not a supervisor position. They said it's 1 RN , 1 LVN med nurse, and 2 mental health technicians to 16 patients. I don't like those ratios. Where I currently work, it has similar ratios, and we are super stressed and there's safety issues due to the staffing.
I should have said we run 16 Pts to 2 nurses. 1 nurse is a medication nurse, the other is a charge nurse. We use LVNs and RNs interchangeably, no difference in scope. We are very similar to Telecare, in our area, as we both operate PHF units. Our unit is safe. We have 2-4 mental health techs also. Safety had more to do with the facility not admitting dangerous, unstable Pts and having responsive techs and competent nurses than it has to do with simple ratios. As for my feelings about psych ratios, I tend to compare them to ratios in SNFs. When I look at it this way, I think psych has a more manageable work load, as our Pts are medically stable.
I worked in a SNF before, so I agree even though the psych ratios can be challenging, it's better than the SNF ratios!
