Anyone work as a school nurse through sunbelt staffing? They have a position posted in a local low socioeconomic school district....how is the pay? How are they to work for?

I got my first school nurse position through Soliant, which is a part of Sunbelt. They were pretty awesome. Things got done very quickly and my Soliant worker had my back when the Superintendent tried to have me do extra work at the High School, which is it's own District and they don't have a Nurse. I wasn't trying to do "paperwork" for a District I'm not even contracted to work in. The apartment they placed me in was really nice and absolutely no complaint about the furniture they had rented out for me. I think I made about $24/25 an hour and it's $1 if you want medical benefits. I was already covered in that department so I didn't need it. Getting paid every Friday was awesome! Overall, I enjoyed my time with them and my worker was really awesome at communicating with me and getting back quickly even as she was on the opposite coast from me. My housing worker was located in Florida and she was just under Sunbelt and not Soliant. If I had not gotten my current job that I applied for to stay in the area I would have just had Soliant send me somewhere else after my contract ended mid-June. I am making more as a District employee than a Soilant employee, but I don't regret going with them. Also, I got mileage for going between schools. However, you only get the 23.5 cents/mile whereas at my District I get the 56 cents/mile. I am always referring them to people so that says a lot :)

Oh wow....I know school RN's are paid low but my hospital job is $36/hr. I thought agencies were competitive with pay :(

Yeah it is pretty low and even when you factored in the rent of my apartment and renting the furniture, the difference is still low. But pay may depend on experience and the area. You can always check that out first before you decide to apply.

Well, if you got paid what they charge the district (with a four hour minimum), you would be living the dream!!!!

Oh yeah! I know they were charging the District a little over $75k which is way, way, way more than I make now. Plus if that District wanted to keep me and hire me directly for the next school year instead of shelling out for the contract again through the agency they would have had to pay them a $20k finders fee if they hired me within a year after the end of my contract.
