"The alternative to taking the CGFNS exam is to first get a nursing license in a state in the U.S. which does not require CGFNS exam results, and then transfer the license to the State of Washington."

New American graduates are having problems finding jobs there, so expect it to be much harder for you to find a facility that will petition you. At least as far as hospitals are concerned.
When they have more graduates than they need, it makes it hard to find a hospital that will be willing to wait for someone to go thru the immigration process. And even to pay the money for it when they can get all of the American and even Canadian grads that they can possibly use.
You may want to have a second choice in mind.
Getting licensed there and finding a facility to petition you are completely two different things.

Thanks for the heads up suzanne! :-) i never thought about it that way. That certainly puts things into perspective. Would you know which states have the highest demand/shortage of nurses as of date?
It varies from time to time and does not stay consistent. But for new grads that are Americans, they have been having trouble even finding jobs in WA.
You must get an idea of first where you wish to work and then do some investigating from the very beginning. Check out the job situation in a particular area, crime statistics in that area, school system in case you are planning to have children, etc.
