Hi I am taking the NCLEX in September. I let my license lapse and now am wanting to return to nursing. Yeah I must be crazy. I live in MI and all the automotive engineering jobs have gone up in smoke.

Anyway, I graduated many years ago and left nursing in 1986 but I still remember quite a lot but there is a lot more I have forgotten as well.

So is there any other poor souls in the same boat I am? Care to share your thoughts, feelings, fears?

Best of luck to you on your exam.

There have actually been several that have posted here that graduated more than 20 years ago and never tested, but did just that and they passed.

You can do it.

After reading so many posts about being scared and what book to use for the NCLEX preparation, I wonder if my boards were very, very different. My boards were given in 5 exams, peds, ob-gyn, med, psych and surg. In fact I still have my official baord results. My lowest score was 100 points above the failing score. I don't even remember if I was tested on just content...like what are the s/s of chf? We were mailed our results. I had to wait 6 weeks to get the results. I remember calling my mom and finding out she had the letter and asking her to open it. She was scared. I was too.

I didn't even study after I graduated. I graduated in June and took the boards in July. I left from vacation to go take the test. Well things do change. There certainly seems to be a lot more content now.

I had the same exams as you did, and they took a full two days to take, and then you waited months for your results.

And they were only given two times per year.

I am sure that you will do just fine with the exam. Common sense is the main gist of the exam, and using that will usually get you thru it.

Yes you're right. I forgot they did take tow full days. And WE had to wait months as you said. So people taking them now have that advantage of not having to wait.

BTW I am using your plan. I am almost through Saunder's and am planning on contacting you in the next several weeks. I am looking forward to checking out your plan's content. Am very curoius as to just what it is.

Where did you go to school in MI and when did you graduate?

I went to Mott Community College in Flint Michigan and I graduated 1977. A looooonnng time ago. Seems like forever. I think the wait list to take clinicasl is the same now as it was then. I was on the waiting list for 2 yrs before starting clinicals. I guess some things haven't changed. Or am I wrong?

Hello again. It is Gisele and I am sure you will do just fine on your exam. It is just like riding a bike. I too graduated from Mott and you were trained very well. Just continue to review the material you have yes some things have changed and they will continue to do so because that is just the nature of our chosen careers. I wish you well and I need to post a few more times and we can e-mail each other because I think we have a lot in common. Good luck and hope to talk to you soon.

I thought I had common sense but now I see I don't whats the problem with us that fail the test. When you say common sense is the gist. I want to know whats my problem because I feel bad alot of times about this whole thing.
