Anyone take the NCLEX without a classroom review?

I'm sending out my paperwork to register to take the test and I didn't take a review class because I would have to have taken it way before the test date. Does anyone have any success (or failure) stories to share regarding studying on your own? Is this a bad idea??? Thanks!

I am from Germany and studied on my own for the NCLEX-RN, passed with 75 questions in an hour. If you retained enough info from nursing school you will be ok. I am sure that a review class would benefit you though.

Good luck and keep us posted!

my experience is 16 years old with the pen and paper test, but i did not take a classroom review (but did flashcards and very well in school) passed with a top 5% score for my state that year. you just have to know yourself, your study style, and take it from there. not everyone needs to up the bottom line of kaplan et. al.

I did not do a classroom review. I had a book with a CD for my computer. I would just take practice questions off of the CD and review from the book. I did that daily until the day before the test. Then I took a day to relax. After all, if I wasn't ready by then, they I would not be ready in one day. Good luck with your test.

I didn't do a classroom review either - I thought it would be a waste of money (those courses are expensive!). I passed NCLEX-RN on the first try.

I relied heavily on the cd-rom that came with my NCLEX review book. I just took a lot of practice tests, determine my weaknesses and concentrated on those types of questions. I studied for about two hours a day for three weeks before the test.

I had 75 questions and I was done in 45 minutes.

Me to. Passed in may with 75 questions. Really, It's an easy test. You'll do fine. I think those who fail have too much test anxiety.

I took the NCLEX-PN without a review class and passed with the minimum amount of questions. I studied on my own by constantly answering practice questions from the Saunders Comprehensive Review book.

Good luck with your exam!

I took both the NCLEX-PN and later the NCLEX-RN without a classroom review. I used a review book and did the study CD over and over again. Passed both tests at minimal cutoff off 85, and 75 the first attempt.

If you paid attention during school and study hard on your own or in a group of friends, then no need to waste extra money.:twocents:

Add me to the list of individuals who took the test without a review.

I also took the NCLEX without taking any kind of review. I studied about 200 questions from Saunders in the airport on my way back from my honeymoon.

Passed with 75.
