I have heard its a pretty good school, it should have been my first choice. Whatever you do...never attend CTU((wow that rhymes)) Good luck, you will be fine, I think there grading scale is pretty standard @ 75/76%. There retention rate was the best out of all the pn schools in the metro area and none of 'em were for failure, personal reasons!!
Cass Career Center is a wonderful LPN school. I learned SO much and the teachers are extremely smart and know what they are talking about. After I finished LPN school I bridged to an RN program and if wasn't for what I had learned at Cass I would have been really lost in RN classes and clinicals. My LPN education was exponentially better than my RN education wholely in part to my LPN instructors at CCC. You can't go wrong in this program! Good luck! You will do great if you put your nose to the grind stone, do your homework, and show up on time for class and clinicals every day.
:crying2:
I knew it!! I should have left my school and went there!! I won't say too much about my school b/c....well one never knows who is reading these thingys...lets just say i WONT recommend it to Satan!! What about Penn Valley or Northland Career center? I am like so disgusted with my school, although i would be done in December if the lord willing and the creek don't rise LOL, but if something happens this semester I am going some place else. I am so uncomfortable in a clinical situation that I dont' know what to do. I have thought about just starting over IDK, will see
Why don't you call CCC and talk with the Director of the program. Tell her that you are supposed to graduate from your LPN program in December but that you are extremely uncomfortable in the clinical setting and feel you are getting a subpar education at the school you are currently attending. Tell her you are so uneasy and unsettled you have considered starting over and ask if they would/could possibly admit you into this coming August's LPN Class at Cass because of your previous LPN education. It would kind of be like starting over, as you wouldn't graduate until June, even if by some miracle they did allow you to join up this August at CCC, (it's hard to get into any nursing program) but I can promise you would learn so So SO SOOO much and the teachers/clinical instructors are phenomenal. Here is an example: I graduated from the program at CCC in June 2008. By April of 2008 (before I had even completed the LPN Program) I had tested high enough to be admitted into Park Universities LPN-ADN bridge program. In fact, all 5 of us in the CCC program that graduated in 2008 that applied and took the admissions exams for existing LPN's were admitted into the Park Program, despite that only about 1 in approx 6 nurses/people that apply and test into Park's program get accepted. All 5 of the CCC graduates from June 2008 started Park in July 2008 and graduated with our RN degree in May 2009 and all 5 of us passed the NCLEX LPN and NCLEX RN the first time...in my case, I passed both NCLEX exams with the minimum number of questions the first time I took both of them. I personally feel I learned so much more at Cass than I did at Park, but perhaps I learned more at Park than I felt I was learning at the time. I don't think that Ms. ****** can probably help you, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to speak with her, tell her your situation, and ask...especially if your grades are good. I truly can not say enough good things about Cass Career Center.
PS - If you can't go to Cass, please continue in your program. YOU can do anything YOU set your mind to. I know it might feel at times as if you are self teaching, but in the end if will be worthwhile. Tell yourself before every clinical "I CAN do this! I am a GREAT nursing student! I am here to learn and I will seek out every opportunity to see and do anything I can to learn about the practice of nursing!" Take a deep breath, and go in with an open mind and an open heart...remember you are there to learn, ask questions, take notes, and keep on keepin' on...you will make it through this. Nursing school is certainly not for the faint of heart, but it is most definitely worthwhile!
Kudos to you and your fellow classmates!! and thanks for the encouraging words. I haven't been discouraged yet, faced with some adversity but I remain steadfast in my faith to continue on the path of being a nurse.
I have spoken with the director quite a few times esp about my school. At one point she was gonna transfer into the program b/x my GPA was 3.0 but I hadn't taken pharm or diet/nutrition therapy. IDK I may give her a call on Monday and see, who knows. I just know that I have spent 20k at my school so far, and feel like I paid for a CNA course online. I just didn't do enough research before I choose my school, after my first semester I realized that out of a class of 40 students twice a year only 9 or 10 complete the program. My class started with 40 students, only 8 will graduate this June((how bout them odds eh))
Well Nik, Once you are out there in the "real world" you want to know you are able to take care of patients and feel confidant in your abilities. When I was at Cass, I didn't truly appreciate the vast amount of knowledge I was gaining or realize how wonderful the school was until after I had graduated. I don't think you can lose one way or the other. If you study hard and stick it out, this time next year, you will likely be working as a nurse...or, you will be about to graduate from CCC with a quality education, and be working as a nurse in a couple months. When you pass the NCLEX, you will be ready to work as a graduate nurse...and Nik, you WILL pass the NCLEX.
DelanaRN, thanks for the positive words for CCC. I was thrilled to find it and I live reasonably close to Harrisonville. I applied to both CCC and Northland Career Center. I'm sure Northland would have been a fine program too, but the drive would have killed me. I also plan on bridging asap to RN at Park. Did your fellow classmates that graduated from CCC and Park with you have any problems finding employment after graduating from Park?
@Nik- sorry for your bad exp. w/ CTU! I would stick it out and try to make the best of it at this point! maybe try to get some PT work as a CNA to gain more clinical exp. and ask a lot of questions. This should help with your confidence while doing your clinicals for school Best of luck!
Nope! We all had jobs before we graduated from Park! :)
Good luck!
