Hey everyone!
I graduated an LVN program about 3 months ago and just finished doing a review. The review I did gives us online testing and says that if we get 60% and above on them we should do fine on the nclex. I've taken the tests and so far have done over 60% but as the days pass I'm having a harder time even attempting to take one. I get so worried that I might fail these practice tests that I end up putting them off so that I could "study" first and just end up doing other things. I know I'm basically psyching myself out but I don't know how to get over it. There is a lot of pressure from my family to pass and are even badgering me as to when I'll be taking the nclex and comparing me to distant family members who have passed because it was "so easy". I was just wondering if there was anyone else out there who's worried as I am or those who have taken the test and if theres anything that you do to help you stay focused and motivated?

I graduated from a PN program two years ago, and I was so relieved to graduate and be done that I couldn't even get myself to open a book to study for the NCLEX. I signed up for the test, and about the week before, I finally looked through the NCLEX book. I went and took the test and passed. If you can make it through the program, you'll do fine on the NCLEX. You will both do fine!

I was TERRIFIED to take the NCLEX-PN but I scheduled it right off the bat after graduation and vowed not to change/cancel the appt. I worried all the way up to test time. I didn't do really any studying besides going trough my ATI books and looking at common disorders.
I passed NCLEX-PN first try with 85 questions and was relieved that the test wasn't nearly as hard as I dreamed it to be.
You got through the program, you can pass the test. :)
Thanks for the encouragement! I'm just so worried over it. I've talked to a couple of people from my class who just took the nclex. A couple passed ( according ti the pearsonvue trick) with 86 questions, another with 95 and another with 205- and the one who passed with 205 was at the top of the class! They were saying that there were so many things on the nclex that they didn't know. I just hope I pass with the minimun number of questions.
If it helps, review endocrine! That was the system I knew the least so I reviewed it before the test, and I was surprised that there were a lot of questions from endocrine on my test. I passed with 85 questions. And don't go by someone else's experience! It only scares you more!

Hi r mari,
I was very intimidated by the NCLEX-PN, too. I found doing practice questions helped me relax and got me more into "study mode" than reading out of a book. Once I did a bunch of questions, I was then motivated to read some chapters out of Saunders or look over the various study guides from the front of Exam Cram or printed out from here on allnurses. Nothing, however, is more motivating than actually scheduling your exam! Make a date and then don't do what I did, which was reschedule four times! Now that I've taken the test and passed (85 questions), I can tell you that all the hours I spent studying were very informative and I think will make me a more knowledgeable beginning nurse, but I don't think I needed that many hours to pass the NCLEX. I will not make that mistake when I go to take my NCLEX-RN. You are probably ready to test since you just finished a review course. If pressure from family and friends is making you pull away from this test, you might consider not telling anyone your test date. You can then surprise them when you get the good pop up from Pearson Vue after the fact. And you probably will get the good pop-up, because most people do! Good luck to you, future nurse! :)

I graduated August 2011 and took the NCLEX PN last Friday. I had a lot of select all questions (almost half) and no math questions. I checked the PA BON site and I passed! Here are my suggestions:
1. Schedule your test and keep your scheduled date and time.
2. Practice as many NCLEX questions as you can. Even if you get the right answer, check the rationale.
3. I studied ATI, Saunders, and Eam Cram questions.
4. You know what you know, just make sure you know how to read the questions!
5. Relax! It's an exam and you made it through nursing school, you can pass this test.
6. Be positive! You will pass on the first try.
7. Pray!
I bought Saunders at the beginning of school and practiced NCLEX questions faithfully almost every day. The Exam Cram books and CD are great! And ATI, if you have it, is wonderful.
I couldn't sleep the night before my exam! My exam was at 8:00 and I had 85 questions. I was out of the testing area in an hour. I can honestly say, I was concerned about all the select all that apply because I really don't like those but I figured they were the harder questions so I tried to think positive. I knew my results by Wednesday (Monday was a holiday).
I think if you study NCLEX questions and do a review of each category you'll do just fine. Congratulations on passing your LPN program!
