I was wondering the same thing. I was accepted into the BSN program. I just have 2 classes to take before the October cohort: Microbiology and lab. As you may know, the classes go on a monthly basis; some are 2 months long;no longer than that though. They do the cohorts because you stick with the same people throughout the program; I think that that is the Groovey-est I finished all of the other pre reqs while in New Orleans before the hurricane. I have talked to a few students there. They tell me that they land jobs way before they graduate. Some hospitals have programs that, after you take Med-Surg II, you could follow an established RN around and get paid for it. A lot of hospitals like National students; the students can be hired on in the hospital as Student Nurse Interns within one year or so. I was also told that it is smart to either apply for an alternative loan (hope you have good credit or a great parent to co-sign for you) or living with a parent; the work is "intense":selfbonk: as with any nursing program. You could chose to do a day cohort ( not sure of the times) or evening cohort (October is in the evening 5:30pm- 10am). I will continue to post throughout my studies and beyond. I hope this helps at little.

hello! i just recently got accepted into National's BSN program, and i start this october! does anyone know where i can attend CPR classes in the san diego area that is associated with the AHA? I need to obtain my CPR card before orientation! if anyone knows of any good places, please let me know! thanks!
:balloons:Congrats:balloons:!!!!!! AHA Healthcare Provider CPR has to be taught at hospitals in every county in San Diego. Nurses in North County S.D go to Palomar/Pomerado Hospitals for recertification. The classes aer usually held in the "education" department. If that doesn't pan out for you, you could try the AHA website. Just Google it and see. Good luck to you.:biggringi
thank you very much mommalumps!

There's a thread on National University San Diego you might want to read where students have shared a wealth of information about NU and their program. I know it looks daunting (128 pages!), but there is a ton of helpful info in there for prospective students. Also, the regular posters seem very helpful and are quick to answer any questions you might have.
I am still completing my pre-req's so that I can apply for their program. I had most of the GE stuff already completed (various community colleges and out of state schools from when I was in the military) and took NSG322 (their version of the Bio-Med Stats), just finished A&P 1, will be starting A&P 2 next week and Micro in July-August with National. Thanks for reminding me I need to schedule to CLEP for the ILR 260 requirement. ;-)
Please don't misunderstand that I'm discouraging you, but I feel it's only fair to warn you and other prospective students that this 2 month format is not for everyone. You will still be covering the same material in 2 months each of A&P 1, 2 and Micro (6 months total at NU) that is covered in 3 full semesters at a traditional school (approx. 1.5 years of classes). If you are seriously considering taking the sciences with National, be realistic with yourself about the amount of time you will have to study and have a pretty good idea about what kinds of study tools work for you so that you make the most of the time you do have. I feel like I treated A&P 1 like a full time job, and then some (final grades aren't posted yet, BUT I felt pretty good walking out of the final yesterday ). That said, I become close with a few girls who managed to take other classes and/or work while maintaining a good grade in this one.
Grades aren't everything but remember that many of the local schools are now or have been using a point system for admission, and in many instances your core sciences GPA is weighted. For National's Nursing Program specifically, number of attempts to achieve a C or higher grade in the pre-req's is factored into your points. So while it may seem desirable to complete the sciences in 6 months if your life won't allow you to undertake such an intense course and still earn an A, earning it in 3 traditional semesters may be more desirable to ensure competitiveness in the program you wish to attend.
Good luck and I look forward to seeing you in the NU thread!

Hi All,
I was wondering if I could receive some feedback? :)
I am looking toward applying for the accelerated bsn in october or december - is it very competitive??? I have an undergrad BA degree, but my cumulative gpa was around 2.0 (very low i know ) but i am looking toward taking the core classes (physiology, anatomy, etc) and have about 10 more classes to take and hope to do well in them...because i think NU has a last 60hours credit gpa solution, in which they take those last units and get your "newest" and most "recent" gpa. is this true? I've also heard that if i did well on my TEAS, it would help me a lot!
this is my current situation. do i have hope to get into the program? this year? or do you guys think that i would have to apply several times and take more classes before hoping to get into the program? help!

Hi everyone, can someone please give me some advise? I recently just finished taking all my prereqs at a community college and now preparing for my teas test, I have an A in Anatomy, an A in physiology but a C in micro, all of my other grades are all A's and B's. Do u think this lowers my chance of getting into a nursing program? I am looking to apply at National University
