"Jennie is a nineteen-year-old female who presents to the family planning clinic requesting to be put on oral contraceptives. She was treated for pelvic inflammatory disease approximately six months ago. She is G2POA2. Her most recent elective abortion procedure was one month ago..."
This is an abstract from a question I found in a NCLEX Review Book... What is the meaning of G2POA2?
Thanks you.

This is very common language used in maternity.
G- Gravida- the number of times the woman has been pregnant.
P- Para- the number of deliveries the woman has had.
You may also see them list the number of full term and pre-term births, the number of abortions and the number of living children the woman has.
I could have never guessed that one!...Thank you:)
It is old. As KelRN215 points out GTPAL is more common.
Gravida= # of times pregnant
Term= babies born @ 37 weeks or greater
Preterm= babies born @ less than 37 weeks
Aborted= pregnancy either induced abortion, miscarried, or an ectopic pregnancy prior to 20 weeks gestation
Living= Babies alive to this day
