:confused:I have recently moved to California from the east coast. I have completed the pre req's that I need to get into Nsg school. My issue is finding a school that doesn't have insane waiting lists or unrealistic transfer polices. I really need to be back in school this spring so i'm in a bind. I'm in the San Diego area...can someone give me some good schools in the area. I checked on a few schools while moving and they say "oh no the wait list isn't long it's first come first serve" But in reality there are thousands of applicants who were before me. What do I do. I could try a private college and pay more but who's to say that their wait lists aren't even longer?
In NY some hospitals have programs for their employees to go to school to get their BSN while they work are there any programs like that here?

Unfortunately you picked quite possibly the worst state to move to for nursing school. You are better off moving to a different state.

I heard that in CA, nursing unions mandate that the ratio of patients to nurses is 4:1. Is this true?

I agree in saying you basically picked the worst state to move to for a nursing degree. I live in CA too and I know how ridiculously impossible it is to get into a school here. Waitlists are long, private schools have ridiculous prerequisites that are taken at multiple schools because not one school has ALL the classes required, state schools aren't accepting applications for spring....
All I can really say is apply your butt off. Maybe you'll get lucky with an ADN program. Either that or wait for fall 2009 and/or move out of state.
Best of luck!

There are no wait lists at any of the city colleges for ADN programs in Chicago!! I applied at all 4 of the city colleges that have RN programs here and got in first try, to all of them! Just a thought...
Thanks for responding to my dilemas:up: I have been doing a little research and did find two schools with no wait lists in CA, WCU is accelerated for the BSN 39 months if you don't have any schooling at all, less is your credits transfer and Kaplan has both ADN and LVN programs. The ADN is 20 months long and the LVN is 15 months long is you go full time 20 months if you go part time. My new dilema is now figuring out which one will fit my lifestyle the best and if I should take out a loan to cover my living expenses while I go to school or kill myself working and going to school at the same time.....I NOT EVEN IN SCHOOL YET AND I AM STRESSED OUT!!
With the economy the way it is now do you think they are even giving out loans like this?
